Williams has been playing for the Jets and has been active all season.

I think they would have traded him for the right offer, but they probably wanted more than the Steelers were willing to give. I assume and hope the Steelers at least offered that fifth-round pick for Slayton first. He is a better player.

I would have preferred Slayton also. But if the Giants weren't willing to part with him, or wanted a third or better, then Williams is a better value.

I'm just hoping Williams is closer to 100 percent as the season goes on. If he is right, he could be a great fit for Wilson with his ability to win on 50-50 balls.

Rodgers blames his crappy performance on anyone he can and Williams leaving the Jets was 100% influenced by Dusty Rodgers

    Appreciate the 'finality of that.'
But it was 'wishful thinking' on my part.
I know the Steelers are not a Lattimore short of a Super Bowl...
I also know, the Steelers don't make deals like that even if they are.
I doubt we ever see Omar as "GM of the Year." but I also don't see him as "Worst GM of the Year"
I see him mid pack to maybe scratching the bottom of top 10.

"Never" (if you've been around the NFL longer than a week) is not a word in the NFL.
I haven't found a crystal ball that works..

i am not in love with this. Not sure what MW has in the tank and a 5th rounder + his salary is a lot. Not sure what he can give and bring.

    I guess we will see.

We only owe him $300k for the rest of the season. Almost all his pay was a signing bonus

His cap hit for the steelers for the rest of the year is somewhere in the 600 thousand range, nothing more. He is a rental, but with 2 5th rounders you take the chance. as I said earlier he does not make us a SB contender, he does make this team better heading into a crucial stretch. What happens after is beyond any crystal ball. There are rimes you take risks, this is actually a pretty low prices rick with the potential to get you to the next level.

Hopefully, he will help GP become a better all around receiver.

for me, it's the cumulative effect of giving up draft picks, including the Fields pick for next year, etc.

We will see, time to Monday AM QB this one later in the year. I am luke warm for now, WISH THE BEST!!!

This, and hopefully open up more potential in the red zone. I know we have more TD's lately, but it still seems lacking and we need the 7 instead of 3 when facing the upcoming brutal schedule.

Absolutely. It's been stated (by experts) that if we score more TD's our suspect run d is helped.

I get it, and I love having those picks as potential to move up in rounds 2-4 to grab someone you really like. Not really sure we can say we were or are in a 'all in' place right now, but for the first time in years I can actually see a confidence, talent and depth in all phases to get us to the next level. I see a huge amount of players who are on there last year and another set who will want to be paid. Having CAP room is nice, but i'll leave next year for this period and see what it produces. We may indeed find ourselves lacking in the coming 2 months, or actually be competitive and win, go deep in the PO's and beyond. We still have a good load of picks for next year and today this team is better that they were.

His Dollar cost is why it had to be a 5th.

The Jets are going to pay him $9.5 million for the first 9 weeks, and now the Steelers are going to pay him $500K for the last 9 weeks of the season.
