Yeah, the WR's are getting paid this year. LOTS of money being thrown around.

I read that Deebo Samuel wants to be the highest paid non QB, good luck with that 49ers.

At this point in time Boyd is a much more reliable receiver than Dionte . Imo DJ has possibly more upside than Tyler. They could both play for me. As other posters have mentioned I would have no problem with 15- 17 million. He is not worth anymore at this time.

Supposedly scrubbed 9ers from his social media, this new fad is catching! No doubt dude is am insane talent, but one year and wants what would now amount to around 30 million a year. This insanity will never satisfy. Soon after someone will get paid more and the need to 'be the highest again' will constantly be in the head. Perhaps not all, but the WR position is very diva, and right now is prime season.

The amount of good WR coming out every year is a positive, but expecting rookies to perform like Chase did last year is a misnomer. The 15 to 18 million range is the market right now, I do not see it coming down, but I do see it leveling off. While there are certainly many more good WR coming out, those that impact and take over a game are far fewer in number. In time it's simply going to be a numbers game, there will be a few outstanding WR, many very good. It's much easier to replace O stats with a couple of decent O weapons than putting all those bucks in one guy. It will balance out eventually, but in 2 years an 18 million per year deal with DJ will likely look like a bargain.

Even though He wasn't a 1st round guy.....This is why I laugh when people suggest You have 2 get a guy in the 1st for the 5th year option....If a player is good He will not wait till the 5th year option 2 cause trouble 2 get paid, and if He not good .....who cares about a 5th year option???

That's about to be the going rate for any top wr. They're currently the highest paid postion outside of qb. When jj, chase, etc... go up for contracts they will break the bank.

Claypool needs to refine his skills. He has all the talent in the world, he's by far the most talented player on the offense, but he can't put it all together.

Elite guys especially are wanting paid early, and you cannot blame them. While still under contract, elite guys are certainly getting their way a lot more than they used to by being willing to sit until the money is paid or forcing a trade.

So in other words he isn’t the most talented player on offense. Thanks.

Johnson needs to improve his yards per catch average. When a receiver is average 10.8 yards per catch, a linebacker is in position to tackle him. I know half of that is on the o-line and Roethlisberger, but if he wants bigger money, he needs to be at 120 receptions, 13 yards per catch, which would give him over 1500 yards.

Talent is something you can't teach. He has by far the most gifts far as physical abilities go. He doesn't have the refined skills.

Moss and Megatron were both far more TALENTED than Jerry Rice. Both were bigger, faster, stronger. But rice was the better wr because he was the most well rounded skill wise.

Boyd had a gigantic drop in the Superbowl. 3rd and 7 late in the game near midfield and he drops a first down pass. The Bengals have to punt and the Rams drive down the field to go ahead on Kupp's TD catch.

I’m aware. I just don’t see him as that athletically gifted.

Yeah but Tyreek is getting 30 million a year, I don't see how they can give Deebo more than that.

    6'4 and running a 4.4 isn't athletically gifted?

He better start showing it then, I want to see production day in day out and Chase didn't do it last year. When he shows
he can do it on a continual basis then we will start talking about how far he is. He needs lots of improvement.

Only 2 more million than what devante got. Just how it works out. He probably gets 30.5 . If not, then they will lose him.

Not necessarily but it’s a nice foundation

Lots of track people can put those numbers up but can’t catch a ball or make a cut

    I have a friend who when I met him was 6’ 7” 295 and could run a 4.4
    He also wasn’t coordinated
I remember him as big but not specifically athletically gifted

Although he was nice to have around in a bar when some drunk wanted to give me crap

I wouldn't consider cutting an athletic ability. Thats more so a skill that your efine and work on. Claypool has the ability to be able to cut. He just doesn't work on it like he should likely because he walkways got by with his athletic ability. When a person talks about someone being athletic their talking about speed, size, strength, explosiveness, etc... things you can't teach. There aren't many guys 6'4 running at that speed.

Like dk Metcalf. He's not a really refined receiver. He's better than Claypool but compared to the top guys he's not well rounded. But he cans till make plays because he's so athletically gifted.

Well, at least Metcalf doesn’t end up falling down every other time he tries to catch a football. Is balance an athletic gift?
