So hard to watch the Steelers get abused in the running game (183 yards, 6.1 ypc). I sure hope we can find the answer to this problem area. Otherwise, it's gonna be rough going against the good teams.

There is no answer. The facts are simple if we go base we can stop the run ,but we can't stop the pass.

If we go sub package we can stop the pass ,but we can't stop the run. So until we get better DL and better CB'S we will never be able to stop them both on a consistent basis.

I remember the days when the announcers would flash that fact across the screen that said the steelers haven't let a RB rush for over 100yds for so many straight games, usually it was like 16 or more... Now we get gashed pretty badly.,

I thought that today too. Used to hear that every week when Aaron Smith and Hampton played.

Yeah that was a nice stat then. Get ready for a heavier dose of inside running and play action folks.

I haven't see a collapse so bad since the Bills game back on the Houston Oilers back in 98' ( I think that was the year) and the defensive coaches got fired after that one.

When did the Steelers forget how to tackle? They looked really bad today and gave up a lot of yardage and first downs because of not tackling well at all.
What is with the high number of penalties today? They can't have a special teams play without a flag.

Cowher was our coach and I remember we were going to play the winner of that game in the next playoff game. I left the house at half time with Houston up like 35-3 thinking we had Houston only to come back late in the game with Buffalo pulling close with Frank Reich at QB.

Yeah, Marty's boy made some awesome half-time adjustments. Don't know why our offense took the foot off the gas, though.

Well, we won today, too. But both were second half collapses. neither were as bad as the Oilers in that 1992 playoff game.

What's interesting about that 2010 AFCCG: Sanchez led the comeback. Like Hoyer, he's an unstoppable QB heading for the HOF.

Said it before, we make HOF'ers out of anybody time to time. Can't cover the middle for squat and give to much cushion to receivers year in and out.

One thing I will say is Terrence West is a player. I think he will eventually be the feature back for that team.

I was hoping Steelers would look into grabbing him during this past draft. I was surprised he was even 2nd string.

    Yep.

The Browns have had years of high draft picks (hence their o-line) and while they've made some huge misses, they've picked up some good players as well. While we never, ever should have let the lead go in the way we did, it will be interesting to see how well they do as the season goes on.

It's going to be very, very close in the North this year, imo.

When you screw up royally but still get a win it's a bit easier to deal with. I don't remember a run defense this bad but I do remember the early 2000's when we couldn't stop the pass at all and teams would just line up 4 wide and throw it 50 times a game. That being said, the Steelers have the chance to have a very good offense that can negate some weaknesses on D.
