Wouldn't surprise me if we start out 0-4 or 1-3 at best

It's not one on one. It's a roll to safety or corner depending on the zone. However with the cover 2 they have been running I want to see shazier turn and shade gronk in the seam or to the pass off to the corner.

Man up, shaz under safety over yes But I want recovery speed to cover him. Gronk is big and strong and one shouldn't try and match that. Match his faults, speed and agilty. That's not me saying he is slow or heavy footed but shaz would have that over him while still being comparable.
Use your perceived strength against their perceived weakness

 

I would put the LB on him for the 1st. 10 yards then let that LB hook up in that zone and the SS plays man on him from there .I would rather Shazier be setting in that zone than anyone else . I also don't want to give him a 8 to 10 yard post up on every play

 

After reading my own post I giggled. There are so many places and routes that to say 1 guy is on him is silly and maybe that's what you meant. By no means should there be a shaz/ gronk island happening.

 

I can see your logic in this .I see it different ,but I do see your School of thought. My school of thought is your never going to stop Jordan all you can do is hope to contain him . So I go boxing 1 and I want some big strong guys beating on him all game . It's early in the year so I try to limit his impact early and hope he runs out of gas late . Later in the season I might lean more to your approach .

We never seem to start the season off strong, let's hope this year is different.

Gronck is a tough matchup for sure, but the Reggie Wayne signing scares me too. That dudes still a badass and our safeties have yet to show any badassery defense.

 

I don't know why or can't pin point when hitting the TE when he releases has become taboo,but you never see it ,from us for sure. You were always schooled in football to hit the TE. Why their biggest weapon gets a free release is one of life's unsolved mysteries.....

I always wonder why we don't jam people as much as I would like. If you look at that Seattle d from a couple of years ago they would absolutely hammer people. I will say though that if you remember that Saints game where Ike played on Jimmy Graham he was actually leveling him pretty good and I think that's the game where he might have wound up getting hurt. But he really was getting pretty physical with him. We just need to reinstitute the nastiness.

Brown was already starting to complain about not getting enough balls thrown his way . This was just in practice . I have seen it many times to many give me the ball players can and will mess up a great thing .

WR'S as a general rule are Divas it is good to have some WR'S on your Team that are just Football players and could care less about their name being in lights or being on the highlight reel. Again only 1 Football to go around.

I kid you not the worse season I ever Coached we went 2-9 and I swear we had more talent that year at the skill positions than any other year . That team just would not come together we couldn't get those guys out of the me mentality.So while I do love the fact of having more skill players there also has to be a balance. A natural pecking order if you will without that the chemistry of a Team can go to crap. That's why I say too many Cooks can mess up the Soup...

 

Ugh.. I forgot to add all of those players. It's worse than I thought.

 

The Patriots are going to embarrass us in two weeks. I don't care who they have a QB. Belicjeck will find a way to out coach Tomlin like always. Our offense is going to suck like the last playoff game with no Bell and now no Bryant .

Oh I agree that players can become divas. I was just referencing that famous video called Too Many Cooks. For the rest of my life when I hear that phrase I will automatically think of that video and that song. LOL.

I'm confident we wont go 0-4 or 1-3, I can remember us winning games with 5 starters out, so I'm not worried a bit....

 

I think we will be fine. We might lose a game we could have won had we had everyone but at least this is happening at the beginning of the year and we have a bit of time to get others up to speed vs. right at the end of the season. If we can get a split between NE and SF I will be happy and then Bell comes back and that will be a huge boost.

 

Good teams fight through injuries and adversity. People said we were down and out in 2005. Yet the first 6th seed to win a superbowl. in 2008 we had the toughest schedule, and yet came out on top. Ben is hungry. We are destined. I got teary eyed watching those games again. Feeling the intensity, watching my team overcome all odds and shock the world. Relieving those moments as if it was yesterday.

With that being said we will go 0-19 (3 extra games will be played since the league will feel sorry for us)
