I'm all for hiring Rex. I mean the guy is as cooky as they come with his fetishes and all. Besides, who else is going to teach our guys how to trip if the other team gets too close to the sidelines? Sometimes you have to think outside the box to get to that next level.

Purple crush? Give me a break. I can't stand the Ravens, but in no way was it obvious that you were being sarcastic.

I would take Rex in a SECOND as our DC... and anyone who says they wouldn't is crazy. The guy is a defensive mastermind. I will admit Rex is probably the most obnoxious coach in the NFL, but you only put a camera on him when he's the head coach.

All you saying no, let me ask you a question. Did you have any idea what Rex Ryan looked or sounded like when he was the DC of the Ravens? Because I sure didn't. Everyone said Haley was going to be this monster too, but you don't really hear much from him at all. You bring in Rex and tell him he's gotta tone it down... Rex could've won a Superbowl if he got a decent QB. His first couple years the defense and running game were stellar, but he really whiffed on Sanchez which is going to ultimately be his downfall.

With Rex and Haley I think we'd have by far the best coaching staff in the league.

True. I think sometimes Steelers fans have this holier than thou attitude, where we seem to think that only upstanding professionals should be on this team. We stick up our noses at guys like Burfict, Janoris Jenkins and Randy Moss, but those guys go elsewhere and help their team win games. Meanwhile, we've had plenty of our own guys in the past that have been complete morons.

If Rex Ryan is the better DC than our own guy(s), then yes, I would absolutely support bringing him in. He won't be beaking off to the media as a DC, Tomlin and the Rooney's won't allow it.

I wouldn't want Randy Moss because he is a quitter of the highest order, far worse then anything you ever saw out of Plax or Holmes. He straightened his act out for a little while on NE but started reverting to his normal b.s. and Belichick kicked his ass out of town. He went to the Vikings where he destroyed a caterer who put out a spread in the locker room and acted like the biggest prima donna ahole and proceeded to quit on the Vikings worse then any team he ever has before.

I don't disagree, but what I said months ago is lets bring him in, see what his attitude is like, see what his work ethic is like, see if he's been humbled a bit by his fall from grace, and see if he's ready to turn things around. If not, Tomlin could have cut his ass during camp. If he didn't give 100% in practice, he would be an easy cut. That's all I suggested months ago, and I got crucified for it.

I still wish we had taken Burfict in the 7th or signed him as an UDFA. we desperately need LB'ers and this guy has tons of talent. Again, an easy cut if he wasn't ready to give his all.

Jenkins I really wanted although we weren't in any position to draft him, but that's another guy I said I wanted and got crucified for.

Sometimes we go too far with demanding nothing but the best personalities and attitudes. We're talking about football players, not kindergarden teachers. While you can't have a team full of Aholes, there's room for a few provided they're willing to work hard.

Several teams wanted Butler for their DC, colts, miami, cardinals, the steelers wouldnt give permission to the cards for a Butler interview, but let Horton interview for the job and he was hired. Whisenhunts first choice was Butler, and Butler is in line for the job here if Lebeau would retire, which I think is overdue, I dont want to lose Butler because DL doesnt know when it's time to go, Butler likes the 3-4 scheme he implimented it at his alma mater Memphis where he coached but can run either a 3-4 or 4-3, come on Lebeau give this guy the reins and hang it up before Butler takes his coaching skills to another team...

I'm surprised with your feelings for Ben that you would accept a guy like Moss but for me it has more to do with the quit in him. One of his closest friends, Chris Carter says there's quit in him like no other. His best years are behind him, not even worth the brief headache it would cause to look at him IMO. Who's Burfict? That the guy who sucker punched another player in college? I wouldn't have been against it, Moss has a long resume of dick head behavior, I wouldn't put Burfict in that category yet. Anyone know how he is doing?

Yeah because Tomlin is so good at getting people under control. LOL. I would probably rather get catheterized with a flag pole than have to endure looking at and listening to his fat mouth. I can't stand the guy. He's ALL mouth. NOT Steelers material AT ALL.

Why do people still have delusions about what "Steelers material" is?

Todd Haley had a reputation as a real A-hole. James Harrison and Ced Wilson have had issues with domestic violence. We all know about Big Ben's issues. Joey Porter had dogs that killed someone else's pets. Hines Ward was brought in for drunk driving.

I'm not saying all of these things makes these guys bad people, but let's stop turning out nose up at people because we think they're beneath us. If James Harrison was a free agent everyone on this board would cry foul if anyone suggested signing him.

The reason I say that he's not Steelers material is because he's not a guy to keep things "in house" and also he runs his mouth off. Remember in 07 when Anthony Smith "guaranteed" a win over the Pats? Yeah. He was an idiot and we all knew it. Now imagine Anthony Smith on ROIDS and RICK JAMES AMOUNTS OF COCAINE and I give you.... REX RYAN. That kinda crap is what I'm talking about. Can you imagine Rex Ryan with THIS crap excuse for a D going out and talking smack? Oh please help me....

No. But I DO remember him costing the rats a game against the Pats in 07. He called timeout and they had them stopped on 4th down and then Brady threw a TD pass and won the game. How would we feel if he did that? Besides this is all conjecture because we know this is never gonna happen. There are people I have suggested that I would like to have and people have disagreed. I said we should get Asante Samuel and people said no but if you think he couldn't do better than Keenan Lewis then more power to ya but I disagree. I would've liked to have had Nnamdi and people thought that would be stupid also but again I disagree.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Hairball in that situation? I'm trying to think of anytime that I have ever seen one of our coordinators call a TO and nothings coming to mind.

I know it was Rex Ryan that called the timeout in the Monday Night Football game vs the Pats in 07 when Brian Billick was still there coach. It was Billick's last year with them actually. Brady was going for the sneak on 4th down and he didn't get it but the refs gave the timeout and negated the play. Then the Pats went and scored and won the game and Bart Scott threw the flag in to the stands. Rex cost them the game. That's one of my all time favorite MNF games and I remember it like it was yesterday. The last play of the game was Kyle Boller launching a Hail Mary that was caught but it fell short of the end zone by 1 yard and the Pats held on.

Well then it was a bone head move but I still think he was a good DC. I didn't know he was so boisterous until he became a HC, if he were a DC again he'd just fall into the shadows once more and do his job.

That's the thing though. I think he's gotten so used to the spotlight that he couldn't relinquish it. But on an unrelated note I'm watching Terminator 2 and it still rules the galaxy!

Should have stopped with this one, they tied everything up nice and neat with a bow. Thought it was a perfect sequel, they usually suck.
