I think I just remembered something. Didn`t the NFL during the Browns move to Baltimore change things so you had to leave the team name and uniform behind when you change cities?

Maybe they will waive that requirement for a California team not moving that far away, but if our team`s ever moved they would have to change name and uniforms like the Ratbirds did. Would they then still be followed by Steeler fans? I doubt it.

The only way this team would ever move is if it was sold to a new owner, who ever thought the colts and rams would ever move, nothing is impossible when big money is involved....

If the Steelers moved then I would not follow the NFL anymore at all. Heck, when they lose I feel that I have wasted most of my Sunday already. I couldn't imagine wasting any more of my time watching the Billings Montana Black N Gold or where ever they would end up. I would be very pro active in making sure they had to dump the name and the logo as well.

But, It's a good thing that we won't have to worry about that. The NFL would be cutting it's own head off with how many away games we help sell out.

If this ridiculous hypothetical ever did happen though.........................................Could we bring back the Pittsburgh Maulers?

How is it a different organization if it is still run by the Rooneys and same players? Only the location changes and neither you or I live there.

But another poster brought up an interesting point, Ravens didnt keep the Browns name and a new Browns team sprung up there eventually. I would not be able to root for a new team that came in and got to use the Steelers name, theyd have no connection to what I grew up loving other than the name.

    Never going to happen though!

Nope it would be over for me. You think the people of Baltimore still root for the Indy Colts?
I think not, they cheer for the Ravens.

The Chargers started out as the L.A. Chargers, the Raiders and Rams were once L.A. teams so, maybe they could keep the names.

Not that I want it to happen or anything crazy like that, but if the Steelers ever did relocate I would totally dig the Billings B&G! (my profile pic is from Montana)

I think a lot of it can be summed up in one word "betrayal" ...

I've got a cousin in Eureka, MT. He's a former Denverite and, therefore, a Broncos fan. Ya can't pick your family!

My connection to any Pittsburgh team is because I was born and raised there. I would not be a fan of the Steelers if they left Pittsburgh. My interest in everything that has to do with football has declined over the years. Probably because of the over saturation of everything that has to do with the NFL that's shown. The Steelers would probably have to change their name if they left Pittsburgh.

If they moved to Cleveland, they'd have to change their name to the Steamers, and their helmet would have the "chocolate ice cream" icon on it.

Didn't Jack Lambert once say when somebody asked him if he thought the cowgirl's should be "America's Team" something like "We don't want to be America's Team. We want to be PITTSBURGH'S Team." Or something like that? Man it seems like I read about that or heard it on an old NFL Films or something. That also seems defiant enough to be something he'd say.

As another poster already stated if the Steelers ever left Pittsburgh I'd be done with pro football entirely. They just wouldn't be the Steelers anymore no matter what the name was or who owned the team.
