After Najee hell no. You don’t take RBs Rd 1. This team needs DL and Secondary/WR help badly.

God that list is depressing. Not a single NFL player on that list. No wonder we sucked donkey balls. Can't have a DL like that AND work around a horrible head coach albatross.

I like Jeanty, but very skeptical. If he's getting hit 3 yards deep in the backfield every third touch, I doubt he looks any better than Harris did getting hit 3 yards deep in the backfield every 3rd touch.

Jeanty is better, sure, but unless they get off their cheapskate butt (Rooney) and FIRE Meyer, I don't see the OL opening any holes and we know how mediocre Saquon looked for several years with a pathetic OL and QB.

And our OL and run game is nowhere close to have a high pick RB.
Get a new OL coach/ run game coordinator/OC then we can talk.
Until our OL can show me they are ready for franchise rb I will have to pass on this.
That #1 pick rb will be hit 2 yds behind the LOS,

Isn't it? Keep looking at that roster list and see all the unproductive players on it.

you can't compare every RB to najee. or sequon. another thing i'm seeing on here is people talking about our o-line. player wise we have changed 4 of them. is it the coach or is it the players? is it both? injuries happen.

now we can also talk about what we need to fix on the rest of the team. i hear we need a wr before we need a RB. doesn't the same ring true with the o-line or o-line coach to make a wr worth it? a qb can't complete a pass from his back. when you have a qb that is struggling to read a defense past his first read, the only thing to do is give him extra time. can the run game do that? can upgrading the line? can upgrading the coach?

bottom line is the mess that we have here and it's been created by MT. there is no starting point that i have seen or vision of where we start on this offense. do we start at QB? do we start at RB? do we start at WR? do we start on the offensive line which includes the coach. get a plan.

    Louder2%milk is a UFA
Leal is signed for 2025. Wasted Pick. Hopefully is cut savings of 1.40mill.
Adams is signed for 2025. Serviceable for rotation and special teams.
Lowry is signed for 2025. Same a Adams.
Larry O signed for 2025. Cut him they save 7 mill. Give me the scissors!

High draft pick, Heyward and Benton and a later draft pick possibly in the 7th. I feel they will bring in a FA as well.

It doesn't matter if some of them are under contract for 2025 or not, none of them are good enough and are replaceable.

The current RB room has to be one of the worst in the NFL right now.

If the Steelers are counting on Warren to be their feature back, along with a mid round pick..... We Are Dooooomed.

CB, DT and WR are all bigger needs IMO, but those needs may change after free agency

RB’s don’t make a lot in free agency and it may be worth paying one that fits the scheme they want to run. I’m saying that without having looked in to who is available of course

Talk about the most mismanaged team in the NFL. That fanbase has to suffer their drunken, old fool owner also playing GM and taking his yacht vacation at the start of Free Agency.

Jerrah is totally going to draft his new 'Zeke'. If Jeanty is still there, he will snatch him up.

He is such a clown. That Prescott contract is horrible. Washington is on the rise, Philly is still young, the Cowboys are going to be battling with the Giants for the NFC East cellar.

They had three 12-5 seasons and were blown out in the playoffs each time, then fell off a cliff this last season. They aren't going to get much better either.

That was my biggest question when the Steelers chose not to pickup Najee's 5th year option. Was this an Arthur Smith decision? If Arthur Smith does not want Najee back, then the Steelers should let him walk out the door.

I am a huge Najee Supporter, but I want Arthur Smith to have full control over the Offense, and not have Mike Tomlin looking over his shoulder still trying to run his Old, Conservative Offense.

Najee Harris is a Mike Tomlin "bell cow" RB.

My suspicions were not of Arthur Smith saying no to Najee but the amount of money that was to come under the 5th year option. For me, that was the biggest hang up. At the time, I did stand by the decision but only due to the fact that I was convinced that the team would be able to extend him in this current offseason; Najee proving himself of course. Sadly, that didn't turn out to be the case.

Yeah, it had to be about the money. Najee didn't earn that big 2nd contract with his play on the field, and 7 million bucks is a lot of money to pay a RB when they bring very little to the table. Its his overall skillset that is the issue. Najee is good at taking a lot of volume without injury, he doesn't fumble, and seems to be a good locker room guy too... he just doesn't bring a ton to the table as a player. Too slow, not good enough vision, and that "battering ram" style that can get everyone hyped up is too hit or miss. He seems more comfortable trying some slow-a*s juke in most situations than he is just putting his head down, foot in the ground, and running through people.

He just doesn't have a $7m skillset, and I am glad we weren't willing to pay him that much for what he brings to the table. I think it is time for us to feature a more modern skillset and that likely means Najee is onto another team. I certainly wouldn't be against paying Najee $3.5-4m a year for 2 years to take 6-7 carries per game and be a 2nd in tandem, short yardage specialist that is a decent back up option... but he almost certainly gets more than that in the open market, and he almost certainly views himself as the #1 RB so that is pretty unlikely to happen. I also fear a second contract with the team means that we will continue to use him as the "feature back" and he would end up continuing to eat 65-70% of the carries to the detriment of our offense.

It's best for both parties to move on IMO. Najee will get more money and likely more opportunity elsewhere, and we will get a more explosive back getting the lion's share of RB carries. Win for Najee, win for us.

    So.....

Getting gashed to the tune of 300 yards in the playoffs now means the secondary is top priority?!

Fascinating deductive reasoning by the Athletic!
