Would you agree that...

I think this is often under played when dicussing Tomlins shortcomings. We had a top 5 QB, best RB in the league, and best WR in the league, at the same time. For like 4 years. And nothing.

Sure, you can explain it away, saying they were dealing with a dynasty like nobody's ever seen, along with a lingering P. Manning. But, add in Tebow and Bortles, and it becomes much more difficult to just wave that away. The Tebow loss was particularly egregious, one of Tomlins lowest moments. NE beat them by 35 points a week later.

I'd like to say that with the abscence of TB12, and if we had Mahomes, the Steelers would be a serious SB contender(on the level of the current Chiefs of Buffalo), but figuring 2011-2018 into the equation, I can't do that with certainty. Only winning 3 playoff games total in that 8 year run feels a little underwhelming. And when you add in the last 7 years, you're asking a lot of your fanbase, to sit there with a contented smile on their face, trusting the status quo.

They are not playing for anything. They are already locked in as the 2 seed. Barkley won't play is my guess

 

Shanahan has done it with Purdy. Is he responsible for Purdy's development, is Purdy just a late bloomer, or both?
Could Shanahan take Wilson, Rudolph or Pickett and do the same? You can't discount it completely. Just like you can't discount it completely for any of the other top coaches.
Would Allen be the same guy in another system, or has McDermott helped turn him into what he is? Same with Mahomes.

I've always said that about Brady. I don't think he would have been what he was in a lot of other systems. Belichek made him into what he was, at least to a certain point anyway.

People always love to say if we had an elite QB we'd be a SB contender. Quite possibly, but would we develop a QB into an elite option like other coaches have? Look at Caleb Williams. His coaches are hurting his development. Guys don't come into the NFL as elite QB's. They need help getting there. I'm not convinced Tomlin is the guy to get them there. I don't like what I see about other players development, on both sides of the ball.
Not to mention he had Ben in his prime and wasted most of his career.

Never saw so many people fawn and circle jerk over such an AVERAGE coach like Dumblin in all my life...this rah-rah, Taylor Swiftee brand of Steelers fans are pathetic. They don't go to the North Shore to root for the Steelers, they go to worship Dumblin!
