If we had a franchise QB on the same level as Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, etc, along with some roster changes:

that we'd be in the same position and have similar records as the Chiefs, Bills, Lions, Eagles, and Ravens?

IMO, several people have told me this and even though I agree with them, I still wonder how Tomlin would manage a team like the Chiefs, Bills, Lions, Eagles, and Ravens (as Super Bowl contenders)?

Some of them are almost getting clever. The thread from yesterday was comical. He wrote paragraphs, but still couldn’t come up with an original thought.

The hook was subtle - buried in the last paragraph. Got me too.

Considering Tomlin made the playoffs with Rudolph/Duck for QB why would it even be a question?

What I like is how they love giving each other kudos for posting nonsensical emoticons and pics. I guess that's how the herd of homers grows.

Yes, If they had Mahomes or Allen and some other roster changes, they’d have similar records to KC, Det and Philly.

But they don’t have those guys and they don’t their records. if you’re aunt had…. Never mind,

Put Allen or Mahomes on this roster and they’re definitely a contender IMO

Dale Lolley made a good point on his podcast this week. Andy Reid is widely regarded as the best coach in the league. Yet it may surprise people to learn that Reid was 2-4 in the postseason in the 10 years before he got Mahomes.

That is the kind of transformative effect a QB like that can have on a team and HC

Reid had a franchise QB and a hell of a team in Philly and couldn't get it done. Mahomes would make just about any team a contender. I'd love for us to have a Hurts/Mahomes type QB.

That can’t be his postseason numbers with Philly also? Some of those Eagles team made runs.

The decade in his coaching career before Mahomes joined the Chiefs according to Lolley. That would discount the earlier runs he would have made with the Eagles.

I think his point is very relevant. The Chiefs were a good team before Mahomes, but he has transformed them into a juggernaut.

How about we flip that question around. Do you think any of those coaches would be in a situation to win the super bowl with a quarterback like Kenny Pickens or Mason Rudolph plus a few roster changes?

I remember when Andy Reid moved to the Chiefs. He was a so-so coach and there was a lot of questioning about why the Chiefs picked him up as a coach. Then they got mahomes and the rest is history.

He is a good head coach in my opinion. But winning the super bowl is not about being a good coach or about being a good quarterback. It's about having a good team and getting there without crippling injuries to your roster. It is not just one player or even two players that get you there. It's an entire team.

Most important parts of a team

    QB
    LT
    CB
    HC

We have maybe one decent CB but he is way too handsy.

Yes no one element alone will get you there, agreed.

For a team like the Steelers however, the QB is the hardest piece to find. You can make coaching changes and the Steelers will always be able to attract good coaches if they want them. You can go out and find almost any position by trade or free agency, except QB

I agree that it’s very hard to win it all without an elite QB but that doesn’t mean you can’t make a run every once in a while with a decent team and good coaching. There are plenty examples of this almost every season yet we are never even close. That has ALOT to do with our coaching.

Philadelphia, San Fran and others have done it and I agree the Steelers haven’t gotten there in recent years.

I do think those team had better rosters than what we have now.
