If Sanders is good how come the Steelers didn't even make him a offer, you seem to be a Sanders apologist Denver overpaid for him. The Steelers didn't care that he left they had his replacement already in Wheaton.

Why are you trying to steer the conversation away from the initial point? Because you were wrong. He doesn't drop a lot of passes, period.

As I said, fan perception and not reality.

I stand corrected if he only dropped 3 passes, it sure seemed like a lot more. Anyway he won't be missed.

Yes, barring Evans being there @ 15 WR draft depth is so deep you can wait to take later in the draft.

I agree as well. I'm not disappointed to move on from Sanders. However, I am wondering which 3 plays were counted as drops. I remember two critical late 4th quarter plays late in the season (vs. Balt & Miami) where he may not have exactly "dropped" the ball, but he failed to make plays that you expect a clutch receiver to make. I will admit that I'm surprised to see that he had only 3 drops statistically.

According to PFF he had 5. 1 against Chicago, 2 against the Pats, 1 against Detroit, and 1 against Miami.

The plays that you are referring to that clutch receivers make, did he get his hands on them? The site i got the stats from counts everything he touched that he didn't catch as a drop.

I couldn't get those stats as you need a membership. Curious to know what their parameters are for determining drops? At any rate, 5 isn't bad either.

One was the 2 point conversion against Baltimore. The other was very late in the Miami game on a 3rd and 10. If memory serves me right, Ben attempted to scramble on 4th and 10 after that drop and came up 2 yards short. I think he got his hands on both, but neither was a easy catch.

Overall Sanders had good, reliable hands, with few drops. The problem was that he always had trouble reeling in the tough catches in tough situations - particularly on deep balls. Not having done the research, my theory is that it seems like more than 3 (or 5) because there were balls he should have caught that he didn't even get his hands on, so they don't officially count. Anytime we aired a long one out to him, I had zero confidence he'd catch it.

Its the Mendy syndrome, had some crucial fumbles which becomes 7 fumbles a game because you're so mad at him. Seems like Sanders had a ton of drops too, factor in running the wrong routes a couple times, just seems worse.

It will suprise me barring injury, that Manny
will have at least 80 catches this year.

:this!:That's my main problem with Sanders like you said when Ben threw him the ball down the field in crucial situations he seemed to drop it.

AB is much better at catching contested balls, and adjusting to poorly thrown balls.

he didn't catch to many of those deep balls and dropped his share of TD passes and not to mention the run out of bounds that could have given him a franco moment. I'm just saying why pick on samders when our other one that's still here had his moments too.

Who is picking on him? I said he has good hands. But the other thing I said is true too. AB is better than him at most things, including deep, awkward, and/or contested passes. Do I really have to qualify every single thing I say? Sanders is a way better blocker than Brown, but if I say that, do I have to bring up all the missed blocks Sanders has made during his time here? How about, "I don't trust Bruce Gradkowski to be our #1 quarterback. He doesn't throw well enough. I know Ben Roethlisberger has made bad throws too, such as his interceptions against Minnesota and Tennessee last year. Not to mention the game he had in Baltimore in 2011! WOW he was bad! But I still think he should be our starter." So if I don't say all the bad stuff about Ben, am I picking on Bruce?

AB and Sanders are not even in the same league. Sanders is a decent receiver who can contribute to the overall success of your football team. He's just kind of a "nice" receiver. AB is a "special" guy. He can win you football games!

Still AB caught 110 passes and made the Pro Bowl, remember the great TD catch AB made against the Bears you never get that from Sanders.
