And given our MT history, more likely by the day.

Worst case scenario for Steelers future:

Steelers maintain winning games they shouldn't in 2023
Our Steelers meekly join the playoff party
    Our opponent is relieved
Steelers get blown out by 40 points in wild-card round
    Tomlin wins COTY
Tomlin gets extended 5 more years
Steelers don't win another playoff game until 2039
Tomlin maintains his never-had-a-losing season streak through extension
Rest of NFL tired of hearing about this great coach that leads a perennially mediocre and non-threatening team
We all suffer through unwatchable football for another 5 years.

The below, Colbert, Canada and Fichtner only played a part, its on Mike Tomlin. I don't trust him to improve it over the next few years either. I hope Rooney and Khan don't give in to a COTY award. I do admit there are worse coaches out there, but they don't stay employed more than two seasons. Tomlin is only marginally better and doesn't even sniff a hot seat.

Steelers fans- "Tomlin deserves to be fired and replaced by ?????? because he's a terrible coach."
Also Steelers fans- "The Steelers keep winning games they shouldn't be winning."

Interesting comparison, but let's remember that the Steelers also beat the Ravens.

Should we make the Playoffs I don't think we go mildly into the night. Not saying we win but we will not get our ass kicked. Our damn division is a nightmare. We have to go 5-1 or 4-2 next 6.

At some point, the Steelers are going to need a true rebuild....Being average is the worst place to be in sports

It's weird, I see Cincy, Cleveland, and Baltimore offenses improving during the season. The Steelers offense actually improved last Thursday, but it still took a 4th quarter comeback and some puck luck to beat the Titans. If the Steelers cannot put the Packers away early and often, they may win, but the following two weeks will be very challenging.

Which is exactly what they’ve been doing. Rebuilding rarely happens over night

With the ravens being the exception those teams have been pretty terrible for decades.

It's not a true rebuilding what they are doing right now...They need to start over and collect the draft picks for the next few years....If you are competent it takes 3 years before you become good, maybe sooner if you have a true franchise QB which Pickett is not....

Every division game is going to be difficult even if the offense takes a big step forward. Cleveland's defense is dominant. The Ravens and Bengals are right there with the Chiefs as the best teams in the AFC.

    New offensive line
    New qb
    New tight ends
    New running backs
Predominantly new defensive line(cam being the exception)
    New linebackers
    New cornerbacks
    New safety

    Nope not rebuilding at all

These are changes, not a rebuilding...A true rebuilding is to trade some of our best players for future draft pick and accept having one or two bad years to become a true contender after....that's not what the steelers do and at their current pace, the moment the steelers are going to have a good offense, Watt is going to be too old

At this point, for everyone's sake, I would agree to trade Watt for the best offer and start a true rebuilding. His best years are wasted with our very poor offense

That's not rebuilding. That is holding a fire sale, which usually results in getting pennies on the dollar and rarely helps in the long run.

The Texans coach will win COTY. Tomlin don't have a prayer against Ryans.

First....what does it mean winning games they shouldn't....was it preordained they shouldn't win???? Are we the only team winning close games???
Yes....let's fire a coach that is winning.....what a Novel idea....LoL. I can only remember one team firing a coach for winning... the Chargers...because they thought they could do better.....how has that worked for them???
, and yes....I agree with @strummerfan@strummerfan ....We have been rebuilding, but winning while doing it, and as @Formerscribe@Formerscribe said what some want is not rebuilding its a fire sale.

I'm very happy for the Texans. Seems like they might finally break through. They always still feel like an expansion team. Never quite there. With Ryans and Stroud in place, I think it's on.

    Good for them.

This team needs significantly better QB play (Pickett or otherwise) and is a new OC away from being legit contenders. Not an easy ask, but tearing down the house not necessary either.

The pieces are mostly in place imo. The D is good enough, they just need more breathers during games (talking to you offense). Oline may be turning a corner with Jones starting. We've won with worse olines in the past. Good 1-2 punch at RB, talent at WR, talent at TE, good special teams in every aspect.. Seriously, what is holding us back besides what I mentioned above?

Stroud already has more TD passes than Pickett. Heard that on Cowherd today.

Interesting that Dobbs taking over as starting QB for the Vikes yesterday (and awarded game ball) without any practice snaps this previous week (apparently) in the win against Falcons gave praise to MT for always having him mentally prepared to take over on a moments notice. How could this be?
