You could be right. None of us know what the FO is thinking. I just think that we're very slim at OLB with (2) starters that can't seem to stay on the field. We have to add some talent there, IMO. I'll add that I think Moore and Jones could start day 1 at #92's position.

i'm not giving up on carter yet. year 3 usually tells some tales. i don't think worilds will be at pro bowl status this year but if he makes improvements i'll be happy. just show improvement like he did last year and get him signed at a fair price if he does. i would be mixing carter in a good bit though to see if he's the next guy up and get him signed if he is. this way when and if they become " The Man" we won't have these over inflated contracts to deal with.

woodley is the one that needs to pickup his game. if he has another injury riddled lackluster season, we may see worilds on that side and carter in JH's old spot and i'm not sure this wouldn't be a pretty good matchup at some point. they haven't extended woodley yet and if he doesn't pick up his game, he could end up going down the road like james in a year or two.

this team has their feelers out for LB'ers as they always do. worilds had a little more pop in his stops last year, so thats a good sign. that was year 3 for him and i'm hoping carter can bring that type of improvement in year 3 too. the season depends on woodley though.

i'm not a real dwell on just what they did last year guy. players do get better year by year and if not we need to look at coaching. so it really doesn't matter what happened last preseason for rookies. that was essentually what carter was with the missing of OTA's and mini camp his rookie year. it's still year 3 though and improvement must be made. there is no use paying career backups to keep playing. the next man up has to push the guy in front of them. then we have someone worth getting that second contract. give them merit on play instead of nescessity.

    I think they released Sylvester.

I still think its a mistake to let Harrison go. I just dont think we have someone to fill that role. But I guess time will tell.

We need a MEAN LB and we dont have that now.

Think of it as a difference between Dwight freeney and Michael strahan. It's not about skill it's about size. Woodley played the side of "big" DE Harrison was the "small" DE ala freeney to strahan. It's not anything other then scheme and style. You can't have 2 smaller guys playing and hoping to push the contain.

    What I see:

I think that Worilds will be capable to good. Woodley is great or hurt. Carter is ok. Robinson is a question.

The corners look ok, especially if Lewis signs.

The d-line looks bad once again. Hood and Hayward are not showing much. Kiesel is aging. McClendon shows promise.

Timmons is good at MLB. Foote is ok. Spence is supposedly not healing well, and Sylvester is not progressing to starting caliber.

Troy looked good at the end of last season, but cannot stay healthy and is aging. Clark had surgery and is aging. Will Allen played ok in place of Troy, but is he on the team? Mundy is not a good back-up. There is no good back up to Clark (maybe W Allen).

In order of need I list: safety, mlb, dline, olb, and corner.

I think that the first round of the draft will be the best prospect between safety and MLB. I think and hope for a big receiver in the second round. I think that the third round will be the best prospect between rb, te, and mlb. These picks set the rest of the picks. I am thinking forth round picks and back to have a rb, dline, olb, and either a te or mlb.

This is the defense's year for the first round. The team needs a big receiver on the outside or a really good receiving tight end. The team could use a starting running back, or one to add to the mix; I am ok with starting Dwyer and mixing in Redman. Safety could get really bad really fast. If Heath does not heal timely the passing game could get really bad.

I am tired of safe players, we need GAME CHANGERS! We are seriously
looking at as our no 1 pick a pass rushing specialist. Oh well lets hope
    we get a good one.

Hayward hasn't shown much because he hasn't been played much , thanks to the old fart who should retire, Lebeau!. When Hayward is in there the O-line moves back, but unfortunally Hayward is playing on the beards side, so he has to wait for the beard to retire. By then Hayward's contract will be up and he'll be asking for money that we don't have. I see a pattern with this team, they're holding onto players for too long. They're trying to get every last drop out of the veterans and it's hurting the team. Lebeau needs to retire he's the one playing them.

This is a logical train of thought.
