    Who expected to go 16-1?
I certainly didn't, I expected 11- 6, and I'm sticking to it. What happens in one game doesn't mean anything.
    Styles make the fights.
Bills got beat last week by the Falcons ,who two weeks earlier got shut out 30-0 by the Panthers. LoL. Are the Bills done??
Another example: remember when we couldn't beat the Patriots, but they couldn't beat the Jets, and the Jets couldn't beat us, which led to a SB for us.
    It's all about matchups.
I'm not excusing the loss. I'm only pointing out the reality of football, and other sports. Also a short week , away , is the worst thing for a older team.
I personally believe we will beat the Packers next, and then everyone will say, whats wrong with the Packers. LoL.
I tried saying that Flacco with the Bengals weapons were scary, hell the Packers barely beat them at their own house, and Flacco had only been there 3 days.
Styles make fights. It Always has, and always will. Tomlin knew this, this is why he hated the trade.
    Styles make the Fights.

You might be right about bad matchups and weekly variability but this team is still a pretender come playoff time until
    MT is gone.

Tomlin was worried about Flacco for a good reason. He is now 1-7 against Flacco on a short week.

There is no maybe. It always depends on the styles. While the Chiefs were at their highest powers, they still feared the Bengals, because they were a bad matchup. What one team does good doesn't work against everyone, and our playoffs will depend on who, and when we play them. Like it always has since the beginning of free agency.

    Yes you are. ;)

No one expects their team to win every single game. We all know we're going to drop a few at the very least.

But some losses are inexcusable. This is one. Flacco should have never had any time to even find his receivers. Their running game should have been abandoned halfway through the first quarter. Instead, we let the worst O-line in the league manhandle us.

The offense had a few miscues that should never happen, but it's hard being too critical when they scored 31 points.

Bottom line: we scored 31 points against one of the worst statistical teams in the league. This game shouldn't have even been close. Instead, "We don't live in our fears" Tomlin and Co. were quaking in their boots about facing a geriatric Joe Flacco - even admitting it on National TV ahead of the game - and devised a scheme so soft, the Bengals could have been wearing eggs as padding and they'd still be clean after the game.

Yeay, yeah, yeah. Short week. Divisional game. On the road. The sun was in our eyes. Our shoe strings were loose. Mercury was in Taurus. We forgot our homework. The dog ate the playbook. Any other excuses?

Stop. No matter how we lost it would have been unacceptable to some. If our D shut them down, and yet our Offense couldn't score, and turned the ball over , and allowed them to win that way.....it would be unacceptable to someone's eyes. If we had the game won, and Boz had a Field goal blocked, and returned for a winning td , it would have been unacceptable to someone. So stop.
Even when we win it is unacceptable to some just how we win, so don't try making me believe it's just the way we lost, because you honestly know that isn't true .

They should have blitzed more. They should have stuck to the aggressive, attacking approach that worked in recent weeks because waiting for a big play or a mistake did not work at all.

That said, the times they were aggressive didn't go any better. I understand the Bengals avoiding pressure by throwing the ball quickly. I do not understand allowing the league's worst rushing attack to gouge them for 142 yards. That sparked the Bengals offense. It also helped mitigate the pass rush. it shouldn't have happened.

I don't think he is excusing the loss. He is pointing out that matchups matter, too.

Pretty much! It is basically showing that the Bills will not win the SB again! That organization has a curse from a witch or something. They can have all the talent
in the world and cant win a SB.

    Also...
I only believe their running attack was so bad because before Flacco got there, nobody feared their passing attack enough.

It is definitely easier to run when you have a passing game, but I doubt teams were ignoring Chase and Higgins no matter who was at quarterback.

Stop. Some people will excuse anything. We could go 0-17 without scoring a single TD on the year and they'll be like "Oh well, these things happen. You have to be patient. We'll get'em next year. Tomlin is God."

The HIGHEST paid defense in the league (and stacked on paper) couldn't even be a road bump for the lowly Bengals. This isn't rock, paper, scissors. This is pathetic.

No , of course they weren't ignoring them, but when it's not working, and then you start to get ahead by enough points, that will make the other team stop running as much also. A lot of things factor into it.
I for one am not letting a loss make me believe the season is over. We are still in the thick of things, and have a lot of season left.

I wouldn't know, and either would you. I've never in the history of me watching the Steelers, and it's a pretty long time, have I seen them lose that much, and since I haven't, I would , like you only be guessing, and since we are 4-2, I'm guessing it won't be this year. LoL.
So I guess if we had a different HC that 4-2 would be OK, but because we have Tomlin, 4-2 is a death curse, or is everyone with a 4-2, and below record sucks, and done??? Please be consistent.

It isn't just the lack of yards. It was Brown averaging 2.7 yards per rush. Yikes.

That said, I agree with your overall point. Most of the board spent days talking about how many teams struggle going on the road for Thursday night games, especially the Steelers, then act like the sky is falling when they lose a close one to a weaker opponent. It isn't, but they are going to have to rebound quickly. The home game against the Packers after the mini-bye is going to be huge. Overall, I would rather have Love than Flacco, but I don't think he can be as smart and consistent as Flacco was last night and he certainly doesn't have a pair of receivers like Chase and Higgins. Nobody does.

I understand all the optimism and all about matchups however this was a divisional game which can mean what? Playoff seeding! We have been here before! It's the difference of having a playoff game at home or being a wildcard! Who's to say the Bengals don't have a better record than the Steelers at the end of the season! It matters!

Don’t disagree but my eyes and realism tell a different story. Only beat the winless Jets bc of a fluke KO fumble and the Pats because they have a RB who fumbles every other carry. Very close to being 2-4 following last year’s 0-5 finish. I like our offense, defense is a mess and has been for a while.

I'm talking about last night's game (and maybe implying it'san ongoing problem). But when you said some people would never be happy, i merely pointed out that some people will NEVER find fault. ;)

Turnovers are not flukes most of the time. Gainwell made a good play to force that fumble on the kickoff return against the Jets. The Steelers went out of their way to put hits on the ball against the Patriots because they know Stevenson is a fumbler. You are what your record says you are. The Steelers beat a very good Patriots team and stumbled against a bad Bengals team. These things happen. Hell, it happened a week earlier in the Thursday night game, too, when the Giants kicked the crap out of the Eagles, except that game wasn't close.

Don't forget Jake Plummer. Dude owned the Patriots as a Cardinal and Bronco. I think we beat Plummer several times including AFCCG of '05 season. Only beat Brady twice.
