S Jayron Kearse could be a good option. And what better year to trade down to a slot where his value will be matched. We lost a couple picks in trades this year. He has some family ties to the NFL also. Usually a good thing.

I've heard Cravens was high on the list and Kearse is also an option. CB depth and Golston should allow options in other rounds.

He played Safety as a freshman, in his last 2 seasons he played LB at 225lbs.

You don't have to trade up to get a good CB, Kansas City drafted Marcus Peters in the last draft at #18 in the first round and he has like 7 ints.

Will Boykin get enough snaps to cost us a 4th?

I'm not sure next year's draft is gonna get us where we want to be as quickly as we need to get there. I think FA is gonna have to play a part. Mario Williams has said that he doesn't want to be in Buffalo anymore since he's having to play too much coverage. I think I would welcome him here to do nothing but sack the quarterback but I'm sure we cant' afford him.

That's what I think too. I'm not sure what we could do to free up the money for him but having a guy like him would be huge.

Did he line up at OLB his last year in Houston? I think he was strictly a DE in Buffalo?

I'm not sure but he has played inside and outside linebacker. Does Buffalo use a 4-3 or 3-4? I was thinking that Rex liked the 3-4 better.

I think Su'a Cravens has a calling of a guy like Kam Chancellor if he reaches his potential. Kam could be a 4-3 WLB, same with Cravens.

Jeremy Cash or Darian Thompson would be great choices in the 2nd/3rd round.

We need a safety more than we need corners.

This my point I wanted Peters bad , and usually only 1 or 2 Franchise type CB'S a draft and we need 1 of those should have moved up to get Peters we would already be in the post season had we did that . From the College games I have watched this season that guy is clearly Ramsey . I look at the CB spot as just as Important as the QB spot. Without at least 1 great CB who can play man or zone ,press or read and react defense your Defense simply can't compete in today's NFL . Actually you really need 2 or 3, but at least 1 and a good Safety or Free Safety. We have none of the above and here comes another draft with great WR'S to add to Teams we already can't cover ..

It's not like Marcus Peters was just sitting there waiting to be picked. He had some major character issues at Washington and was kicked off the team. Playing devils advocate, a lot of the information about his time there was not being circulated through the media that I could find. So what really happened there is unknown to me. Hopefully the Steelers did some checking but who knows that either?

I thought he had a thread about who wanted to draft him and I voted no. There were too many unknown risks in a draft where we really needed to hit on some solid prospects to help our defense. In Hindsight, yes he seems to have put those things behind him this rookie year. And that may change my way of thinking on some future guys who may have issues. Tough to say as all the cases have varying specifics.

So for CBs in general. The Steeler type used to be about 6' and were good tacklers. Ball skills did not seem to play as much a factor. Then last year's draft, we emphasize turnovers. Hence the Golson (under 6'), Holliman (bad tackler), and to an extent the Grant (6', rep as a solid tackler)pick. Then we start Blake (under 6') and trade for Boykin (under 6'). Grant seemed to be the only one who had the typical size and tackling reputation but has not made an impact on the 53, albeit with limited opportunities. I really have no idea what they want to draft for the CB position. The only thing I know is they should look for CBs with better change of direction if they continually want to play with the big cushions so they can react when the ball is in the air.

I could get past Peters problems at Washington, he was probably the best CB prospect in the draft certainly better than Golson.
