there never was a good reason presented that explained why Wiz was released. I know he was injured so I thought it was related to that but then a couple weeks later he was on the KC PS. I didn't even know a guy that late in his career was PS eligible but what do I know?

Maybe the emergence of Dotson was reason enough that they released him?? I thought the whole thing was puzzling.

Sheep? I’m not sure there’s many people here that think Tomlin doesn’t have his flaws. Sometimes you’re gambling with some of these in season roster moves. If you have a bunch of injuries at a particular position it can back fire on you.
We got what we got. Support the team

With regards to the O-line though, Tunch Ilkin should be the guest of honor for the first home playoff game this year.

I'm just mad because we had a good ( he was injured ) experienced, starting OL...I don't care if they THOUGHT Dotson had passed him...He was way better( if injuries or bad play came ) than what they had.. Stupid!

This isn't hindsight. I and many others had the foresight to criticize the move at the time. Wisniewski started in the opener and suffered an injury. They would have had to make room on the roster to bring him back, which is clearly what they should have done.

I know the expanding of the PS also included (at least a certain number) of veteran players. Whether wis was eligible, was offered, or would even accept is unknown. I believe there were 1 or even 2 players at the whose PS eligibility had been used up, and injuries at the time required their service and wis and someone else were cut.

I just went back and refreshed, Remember the D line was decimated and they had just traded for Williamson. The only other reasoning I can think of is Dotson might be our starter for the next 6 plus years, no way he would have made it to the PS. The numbers game sucks, but at the time we 2 or 3 DL injured and super thin at ILB, had to be kept on the 53 as they were not IR eligible.

There is a reason 31 teams passed on him. It wasn’t just the Steelers. KC only signed him because they had injuries and he knew the system. And even they didn’t sign him until they were desperate. At the time, we weren’t as beat up.

I know one thing I wouldn’t do and that’s start a weak ass thread telling everyone I was done with the Steelers and this message board till next year then come crawling back like a spineless turd.

Tell us something shocking, every one of your week's food menu for a game includes copious amounts of adult beverage. Can only imagine the holiday menu..:)

Hey numb nut, maybe you should try reading sometime. I have plenty of criticisms of the Steelers. I’m just not going to get on here and pout like a little ***** cause the Steelers don’t run the team the way I think they should.

They way I see it I have a few options.

1- Enjoy the games for what they are, games. Cheer the team on and hope for the best cause after all I can’t control what they do.

2- Be super annoying and get on a message board and ***** about everything the team does. And remind everyone that I know more than the team does. And I’m not talking about normal criticism.

3- If I don’t like the product I can quit supporting them and take my viewership elsewhere much like I would do if I didn’t get the service I expected anywhere else I do business.

    I’m going with #1

I think the primary goal of the OP was to see why we released a viable candidate for some OL depth. Was Wiz not up to task? Maybe? Depth from whatever source is sorely needed now though.

Normally, he wouldn't have been eligible for the practice squad. That was a change made for just this season due to COVID.

The emergence of Dotson wasn't good enough reason to cut the guy. The decision made no sense and it is coming back to haunt the Steelers now.

I think they didn't like what they saw from him in practice, after he came back from that injury IMO.
