The Chiefs did sign him to the active roster for today's game. He's not starting, but yes, the Steelers would be much better off right now if they had kept him.

No...Another " Look at Captain Dumbass Tomlin " ...Were signing guys that are on practice squads and can't cut it...When we had a Super Bowl starting OL...That wasn't good enough for bug eyes elite offensive line

I agree. Veteran depth at OL is important..Should have kept him around,no questions asked.

Yes it was a dumb move under normal circumstances, but this year is not normal..and not remembering (or knowing) the specifics of that move really hard to judge, I do know that you can only move players a certain number of times from PS to roster. With all the injuries I think wis got caught in that bubble, were there others on the 53 that could have been cut..I honestly do not know.

    Whack

I usually reserve that for when steelersrule6 posts something inane, but I’ll make exceptions.

Still do not understand why they let him go, he was locked up on a cheap contract until the end of 2021 and offered veteran cover at Center and Guard. He is surely better than Hassenauer in that role. I don’t get it

Good for him that he found his way back to the chiefs and will likely end up with another ring

My bad. The site I read had him coming off the bench today. Cutting him loose made zero sense at all. I think you are overstating your point a bit, but yes, that was a mistake by Colbert and Tomlin.

    Also, this....

I look around the league and know they could do much much worse.

also, the Steelers do have a GM, not just a coach.

Steelers only have a GM when good personnel decisions are made. Otherwise its all the coaches fault.

I wish we would’ve kept him, especially in hindsight. I’m a little fuzzy on the exact details. I’ll have to go back and read about it. I do remember thinking it was a questionable move, but also understood the roster issues at the time. It stinks cause we could really use him right now. We’ll have to roll with what we have.

I seem to remember the move to realese Wisniewski making sense at the time.

He had been injured all season. Dotson had passed him by on the depth chart. I think they released Wis to make room for somebody else. I can't remember who.

Either way, at that time Steelers were rolling, and appeared to have depth on the O line. Sure would be nice to have Wis now. Hindsight is always 20 20.
