If I'm being asked if I'd sacrifice a trip to the playoffs as the #4 seed with this version of the Steelers, or send Tomlin packing, I'd volunteer to help Mike clean out his desk. I don't see it as any kind of sacrifice. They don't have to make/win the SB for me to be engaged with the team, but I at least need to believe that they have a chance. I don't believe that they have a chance with these players and especially this coach. Even in a rebuild situation, it would be easy to accept losses as long as I felt they were moving in the right direction. Growing pains are acceptable when you're able to see the bigger picture. My identity or overall happiness isn't tied directly to the fate of the Steelers winning or losing that week. But, I haven't believed in this team, or felt they were moving in the right direction for years now. We're not experiencing growing pains, it's clearly stagnation. I haven't been engaged with this team since the moment that they drafted Kenny Pickett.

As far as Tomlin goes, I've always been a 'better the devil you know' guy, but at this point I'll take my chances. Sure, things might get worse with Tomlin gone, especially in the short term, but I've grown utterly weary and have almost zero belief in him moving forward. My engagement with the Steelers is at an ALL TIME low. Wins and loses weigh almost equally in the 'who cares' column of my life. He needs to go. It's like the 11th season of M*A*S*H*, it might've still be a competent show, but I'm ready for something new. Good or bad, just something new.

Yet, If I thought they actually had ANY chance at all to win the SB this season, my answer would be different.

Well for starters, ( I think ) he calls a lot better game than 3 and out Tomlin. He's 42, by next year he would be a better Coach than a Quarterback.
And if we get into the playoffs, it won't be Tomlins fault. Truth is I really don't know Diddley about the It's and outs of football. But I have watched the Steelers since Noll won one game his first season and it was against the Vikings . The Vikings only lost that year.

With out his experience, we would still be watching Dinky ball. Tomlin should read the room, sneek out the back door and leave with some pride.
