This definitely isn’t the 2005 team. lol This is a very mediocre team that is coached by a moron. It took the officials getting it wrong for us to even beat our divisional rival last week.

Without hesitation, fire Tomlin’s stupid ass. Not the least bit interested in seeing us finish 9-8 (at best) and getting bounced right away.

If You actually watched football that year, the same was being said about Cowher, and the team. We had basically the exact same record, and had just gotten beat by the Colts on Monday night 26-7. People sure forget really easy

We had basically the exact same record, had to win out just to make the wild card, and had just gotten beat 26 -7 on Monday night by the Colts. Some of You forget.

We’ll ignore the fact that we had a young QB in 2005; not Grandpa Rodgers. We had a great defense; not a bunch of men who should be wearing dresses. AND, Cowher was actually a good coach. Tomlin had to rely on Cowher’s team the first half of his career. He was also beyond lucky to have a QB who was willing to change the play anytime it was evident that his coaches sucked balls. Look at Tomlin since all that. Even the liberal pundits are saying he needs a change of scenery now.

But yeah. Let’s pretend the 2 scenarios are the same. lol

And you are forgetting the fact that with all that, we still had to win out to make the wild card, not the division winners because that was already lost, but the wild card.

The steelers were also 5th in super bowl odds before that year and still finish the season at 11-5 despite Ben missing 4 games...Don't compare the 2025 team with the 2005 team please!

    How can I not??
I believe this was the beginning of Your watching the Steelers, so I know it hold a special spot in Your heart, but for us that had watched many SBs before that, well I call it like I see it.
1st nobody cares about odds of winning the SB.
Example: Tell me who had the highest odds of winning the SB at the beginning of this year?
2nd. No matter what you or anyone says. Our records we almost identical, but You are right they aren't the same, because we can actually win the division this year, and have a home game, we couldn't that year. We had to win out just to make the wild card.

This is likely to change this year but from 2018 to 2024,every super bowl champions was in the top 5 in odds before the season

And for the division, the difference between this year vs 2005,we had in team in 2005 who had a 11-3 start....This year is the worst afc north or central in the last 40 years

I remember clearly. The team looked finished. The turning point was Bettis running over Urlacher. Everything changed after that.

I will always cheer a win. Though this season likely won't end up in a SB win.

Big Ben got hurt and was out for 4 games that year. If he doesn’t almost blow out a knee(Luckily he wasn’t wearing 3/4 cleats) in San Diego, that season would have ended with a 13-3 record and 1 seed.

Tommy Maddox lost two OT games to Jax and Ravens. Lost on a last second FG to the Patriots. Only had one bad game all year in getting blown out by the Colts which set the stage for their eventual revenge game in that years playoffs.

Steelers beat every team they faced that year but 2. 2005 Steelers were the tightest team I ever saw in sports other than the 2014 San Antonio Spurs. Some of the best football I ever watched from any team was that Steelers team in 2005.
