If Ben goes back to the short garbage that wasn't working, I would put Mason in and say bye for good to Ben.

Ben can throw the ball down field, he showed it last week. The Steelers O also adjusted the 2nd half last week and did not throw the ball every 2.3 seconds.

To be fair, Mason is a bit more mobile than Ben, which negates some of the need for quick throws.

Mason looked much better and more professional today. His command of the offence vs last season was night and day. Delighted for him. Give him an OLine and a running game and he may be serviceable. I’d agree that his short and intermediate passing needs work. Well done to him on today in any case.

Yeah, I think he will get his shot as starter for a season at some point.

I think having a running game would help a lot!

I had not lost faith in Mason despite and again, whatever that was against the likes of Dallas. All that said, he did very well today. Even though Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams were not available today, Mason still performed very well given the circumstances.

He looked far more comfortable today than he ever has since joining the team. Had a 300 yard game to top it all of the same. Hopefully this is the start of something special as I am now convinced the team is not taking a QB come the 2021 Draft; a big sigh of relief.

It's a win win really. If Mason succeeds then use the pick on other players, if he fails the record will allow a higher pick to get a new QB.

    That it would.

Big Ben had the likes of the Bus and Alan Faneca. Here is hoping Pittsburgh can acquire some good Offensive Line talent come 2021.

Patriots are getting rid of Cam after this season. Rumor was the Steelers moved up to get Mason because he was on the Patriots draft board. If he is not our future, I sure hope he doesn't come back to haunt us.

Over 300 in passing by a kid with zero playing time, First start, in a division game with the playoffs on the line.

    :good:

Fools gold. Take away a couple long completions and he had about 215 yards. I know all the yards count but if you break his game down objectively, wasn’t that good.

If they let this draft go without taking a QB, they’re making a mistake. Probably 50/50 Ben doesn’t even come back.

I thought it was taboo around here to compliment a 2nd string QB.

It only took Ben 15 weeks to figure it out... took Mason one game. Seems right for the wiley old gunslinger.

I’m still not a fan of Mason. I would say at best he could be average NFL QB

Amazing. Yinzers blame everyone BUT BEN. When the facts are Ben is the problem.

That is a big jump though. If Ben comes back MR becomes a FA in 2022, I doubt teams will be throwing big bucks at him, but to keep him from the market the team has to Tag him, a lot of guaranteed bucks for some one unproven Thay may try and sign him to a 2 year 'prove it' extension, but the ball will really be in his court.

Rudolph made many good throws and one bad one. Defense got tooled by Mayfield running the ball. That was the difference.

You know, that is one stat I was wondering about. I have been critical of Ben with the 3 and outs. I am sure a lot is play calling. But, I am glad they took Mason's training wheels off and let Mason be Mason rather than a Ben clone.

Not sure who you get then.

I initially thought that Lance was going to be available. Sad to say he is likely not going to be. Kyle Trask, whom I had a lot of confidence going into that Oklahoma Game, let me down far more than I thought he would. Even without his top Receivers, some of those passes were god awful.

Only other QB I would want is Desmond Ridder from the University of Cincinnati. That said, the Steelers would have to nab him when they are on the clock. If they do not, Ridder will not be in Round Three.

Offensive Tackle, Running Back and now possibly Cornerback are on the clock for Round One. I still have not given up on a surprise pick a la Dylan Moses.
