    are some big changes coming?

we have finally started seeing a major swing skyward for this offense. not having bryant this year kept us somewhat grounded. green being hurt most of the year didn't help either but a huge potential is there when these guys are added to this offense. this all just in time for richard mann to retire and todd haley to possibly seek a head coaching job. it's like we never have had our full potential available to us yet and may not in the next couple of years.

who do we look to to take this ship over?

will it be a totally different looking offense with another co-o?

do we finally turn to fichtner?

ben doesn't take well to a changed offense.

who do we look to as the wr coach? mann has done such a good job with this group. he will be missed.

will the receivers flourish in one like they did under mann? most are still young and could have used his guidance another year.

    what say you?

I don't think Haley is leaving yet. He didn't even get offered an interview. The way it ended in KC teams are going to be gun shy when it comes to him.

Difficult to see who would take over from Mann, because its such a niche skill-set and not something we as fans are often party to.

For this reason, I expect to see a whole load of suggestions of former Steeler WRs thrown about.

Not sure about Haley... he's being left alone with interviews at the moment, but that's not surprising given we're still going strong in the play-offs. I still think he sticks around for at least another season though.

I feel good about the teams direction. Haley will be back and with hopefully Bryant coming back and with a healthy Green the amount of weapons already is scary enough. The young guns on Defense will have a year behind them and will even get better then they are playing now. Hopefully Harrison comes back as well as DWill. Add some pieces, OLB,DE,OL, RB and kick return specialist. Danny Smith's future might be in question.

But let's enjoy this weeks game. It's gonna be a nail biter so get ready...

my concern is looking to these former wr's as coaches. mann comes with so many years of knowledge to pick up on the little things that these young guys may need work on. younger new coaches just don't have that veteran knowledge. the offensive side of the ball is full of these types of coaches similar to mann and it has paid off for us. i hope we look to an older vet coach to bring in. we are running out of guys that formerly coached with MT and have this much knowledge. randy fichtner is about the only one that comes to mind. i'd think he would be up more for the O-co job.

    There is always change.

Bryant and Green aren't even on my radar as starters. Too much doubt associated with them. I would look to fill these two holes and if by chance either can contribute next year, then we have icing on the cake.

    Otherwise, pick defensive players.

easy to say but who gets replaced on defense? they are starting to play much better too. with additions there has to be subtractions.
i get what you are saying about the players but someone has to bring them along too. potential is one thing but so is production.

It may not be so much a replace immediately on defense. But we sometime need a replacement for Mitchell and JH and backups everywhere.

mitchell eventually. shamarko for sure. golden possibly. i could see a safety for sure.

corners: sign cockrell. we still have gay. burns. gilbert. golson? shabazz? we may be ok for another year here.

ILB: depends on timmons. shazier. williams. matakevich. johnson. fort? a pretty good group here.

OLB: this one is tricky. dupree for sure. harrison? chickillo. JJ? moats? we added riddick. anderson on IR. this could be subtracted and added to or see what we have in the youth here already. again tricky spot here.

DL: tuitt, sign him. heyward. hargraves. walton. matthews. maxey. mccullers? not to bad of a group here either. lyons still on PS too.

it will be interesting to see just how many openings there really is on this improving defense.:cool:

Drafting when you don't have openings or dire need is a wonderful thing. You can truly go BPA.

I think we see Haley come back, kinda funny with all the success the Cheats have one would think McDainels and/or Patrica would get a shot before Haley. jmo

As for what happens on the team I think we are going to draft a QB high rounds 2-4 and hope to groom him for about 2-3 years down the road. I also seeing us looking to keep the WR position stocked, this year is a prime example why. We went from one of the worst defenses I have ever watched to a pretty good one. We went from a old defense to a youthful defense with some very good talent. I think a few more pick on the D side of the ball will be just what we need and we are set for a few years.

I would not waste a pick on a QB. Rounds 1-4 build your team. Rounds 5-7, the quality of QB is more miss than it is hit. Put the strongest team out there to win with Ben.

I think Mann is likely to be back if they don't win it all. He knows they are on the cusp.

If they win it all, then I could see him retiring.

With the exception of maybe Danny Smith, I don't think you'd see any changes.

If making Haley head coach was the only way to keep him, we should do it, but ownership will not do it. We lost two years waiting on Ben to accept/acclimate to the Haley system. It would probably be a disaster if he left and the end of S.B. dreams because Ben does not have enough years left to adopt a new system.

We could offer him the same pay as a head coach, but I have no idea about how coaches are paid or what. I hope we do everything to keep him at least as long as Ben is starting QB.
