we didnt let up one sack so colon is doing a decent job and our line has looked better each week. I dont think some of you realize how hard it is to switch posisition especialy after missing two years. Also he went from the right side to the left and thats an adjustment as well. Its rediculous some of the excpectations fans on this site have. Do you think decastro was going to come in and be an all pro because that was highly unlikely. Colon hasnt played guard since i believe high school.

Haven't re-watched the game yet, but it seemed to me like Hood had a decent game, and Colon had an up-and-down game. The penalties being the down, obviously. Not sure yet about Hampton.

But I will say that regardless of how well Hampton and Hood are playing, McLendon and Heyward should be seeing more time than they are right now. 5 or 6 snaps per game is just ridiculous. To me McLendon is like the change-of-pace running back. He's the Amos Zereoue to Hampton's Jerome Bettis. I think it's gotta mess with OL players dealing with him after dealing with Hampton. And likewise, seeing more of McLendon will help Casey's game. And Heyward is a talented 1st round pick that just needs some freakin' playing time. Keisel is not playing at the same level he did last year. I think Ziggy, Brett, and Cam should be splitting almost equal time. Keep them all that much more fresh and shake things up a bit. Not to mention help prepare Cam for the future. Maybe equal time is too much right now, but I'm sure Cam could handle 20 snaps per game instead of the 9 he had against Philly. Take them from Al Woods, I don't care. Put your best on the field.

I guess you forgot colons hold when mendy busted that 24 yard run that was negated because of his holding penalty? Any coach in this league will tell you a lineman should never get a holding call on a running play, linemen love to run block, they only have to misdirect their man away from the designated run gap and they only need to hold their block for 2 seconds max, so after playing here for 6 years colon gets called for holding on a running play, amazing....

I believe that play was called back for illegal formation, not holding.

I still can't fathom the negative posts that Ziggy Hood generates around here. The dude faces double teams almost constantly. He still makes plays around the LOS.

Anyone out there that has dreams of Hood being a JJ Watt type of player with 10+ sacks can keep dreaming. Its not going to happen in our scheme. Hood is what he is. When we drafted, many, including myself, compared it to plugging a square plug into a round hole. He is a tremendous player but in the wrong scheme.

Regarding Hampton - Yes I fully agree that McClendon should see much more playing time. I think as the season goes on this will become reality. Hampton is on his last tour of duty.

As for Colon, even though he is a veteran he is playing LG for the first time. There's going to be growing pains. Coaching and time should help heal this. The guy can create holes in the run game though.

He has 6.5 CAREER sacks! Yeah he's a bust! Now if only Tomlin would get off his butt and come to this web site he would know these things!

What I can't understand is why they WOULDN'T give Heyward more snaps either. I mean he's a FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK! You would think that if they were to make an investment like that they wouldn't just do it for a benchwarmer. A lot of people on here have been talking about how long it takes players to learn our defensive scheme and maybe they are right. I've been really underwhelmed and critical of Heyward but heck when you only get a few snaps a game how impactful can you be?

actually al woods has been playing pretty well and hustles his butt off when in there. he's kind of a pleasent suprise so far to me. i did think keisel had a better game last week. i liked what the defense was trying to do. it was just as i talked about that week. moving those LB'ers around and bringing them from different places. keisel was used as a blitzing LB in some of those sets and i think it messed up blocking assignments. i hope they keep it up. back to cam though, he can make a difference and he can get HOT like he did at OSU. he's hard to handle when he gets in beast mode. i think mclendon is the same way, but until they get the snaps, we won't see it.

That 24 yard run play was negated by a colon holding call, 1 of the 4 he had in the game, but willie dont make any excuses for those penalties as he states here..

I just provided a link that said that 24 yarder was negated by colons holding call, heres another article from the pitt post gazette that says the same thing, I guess I will have to watch a re run of the game to find out???

    RUNNING BACKS
It is no surprise that the team's best rushing performance of the season coincided with the return of Rashard Mendenhall, who rushed for 81 yards, averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored on a 13-yard run in his first game since anterior cruciate ligament surgery. He also had the longest rush of the season (17 yards), but had a 24-yard run negated by a Willie Colon holding penalty. Isaac Redman added 41 yards on 13 carries, including a 13-yard run that led to a field goal.

I stand corrected on the penalty that negated that 24 yard run, it was Wallace's illegal formation call that negated it, I should have paid more attention during the game, and it shows how the media can screw up a call in a game then report it, thats what I get for not paying attention and believing what these idiot sports writers put out as fact....

Ziggy...looked better this past game then he had up to this point. I think he will be fine. The game plan was more aggressive and to his liking this week than it has been in the past.

Hampton...needs to only play about half the snaps. I really like what McLendon did in his limited snaps on Sunday. Please get him on the field more, especially in clear pass situations.

Colon....I am still giving him a break. The transition and how you use your hands at the 2 positions is different. He will get it together...I truly believe that. I really want to see Adams and DeCastro get it going at some point. Starks teaching Adams tricks is very important. DeCastro sitting while disappointing....will be good for him in the long run. A future line of Adams/Colon/Pouncey/DeCastro/Gilbert could be very good as they gel with each other.

Like the media could ever be wrong :lolol:

Regardless, I do get your point. Colon needs to clean up his act. He can't play like a rollercoaster all season long.

Whether its Jurell Casey or Mike Martin, I expect Colon to atone for his penalties last game and dominate tonight.

:lolol: Well in your defense, you cited two different sources of what should have been reliable information, and we just said "Nuh-uh." Writers are just like us. They just get an honorary title of "credible," even if they've done squat to deserve it. They remember Rashard's run getting called back, they remember Colon holding, they put two and two together. No different from a message boarder. The only difference is people believe it no matter what.

Now if you'll excuse me, I just finished the Titans game and have to go throw up. :(

Well, that's as bad as I've ever seen Hood play tonight. Multiple 1 on 1 situations in where he couldn't do anything. I've been protective of him in the past, but if he keeps playing this way, I guess I can see what some of you have been driving at.
