Do you think they are going to use him like they used bell and just tell him to attack. I do and I think it could bring a new element to the defense. We lost valuable experience but we gained doped and athleticism with the lose of Foote.

Should be interesting who they insert there. Williams was calling the D in preseason...but who knows.

I don't think they will do that with Williams. Personally, I think the thing he has working in his favor is that he is a really smart player. If we get him snaps even partial snaps during the year, by next year he will be ready to be the full time starter AND make an impact.

Maybe Foote's injury is ultimately a blessing in disguise. Maybe Spence will actually be ready to go at some point this season and can be worked in to the rotation. That'll give the Steelers a chance to see if he can come back from that injury.

Who IS Williams? I was reading about him taking Foote's place but I have no idea who he is.

Very smart lber hits like a Steelers lber lacks pass coverage ability so really he is a faster Larry Foote.

He has good leadership skills, hits like a ton of bricks, just needs to work on his pass coverage. You may remember he was the guy in camp lining up the other players already.

Any word if it likely Williams who will be the replacement? Kion Wilson seems to have a little more experience in the league.

I wonder if Barrett Ruud has anything at all left in the tank? Experienced. Was productive. I'm a little leery about this hole in the middle of our defense.

I hope it's Williams. I was excited when we selected him and even more so after his preseason performance. He looked pretty dang good in pass coverage too IMO.

I don't think that's an indication of who will start in Foote's place mac. They're just better ST's players and Danny Smith probably has a say who get's a hat in that regard. Could be Wilson I suppose, I just hope it's not.

Wilson seems too small to play ilb all game long. He has more experience in the nfl but when it comes to DL system they are on the same level.

He does, at this point I'm just ready to see what the "kids" have to offer. Larry Foote knew the D but when given a chance to make a play on 4th and 1 he missed the tackle. So to me, what good is it if you can't physically make the play? I'm just sick of the idea that DL's defense is so complicated that only veterans can be effective in it. It's a pretty egotistical stance if you ask me. Players ultimately win games not the coaches. I'd start Jarvis Jones and Vince Williams but I'm not DL so what do I know? Zippo
Everyone can flame away now because I said something critical about DL.. sorry. At least I didn't go off on a "suck rant" again.

There is a point at which you throw in the towel and play the young kids, but it isn't after week 1 with a division opponent game this coming week. Nobody in our division won first week of the year.
