At this point, it's not about knowing the system when you're only good for handing the ball off, I like Charlie too but his time has come and gone

Well if he's the heir apparent to Brady maybe we oughtta make him the heir apparent to Ben. I watched a video of him on you tube and Tom Brady was talking about how good of a player he is. He even threw the ball in to a trash can in the back of the end zone and Brady missed the throw and Hoyer said he rags him about it all the time. It would be nice to have a rags to riches story but I'm sure that's probably not in the cards. I think the 9ers have that one all locked up for this year. But if he's really that accurate of a passer and a good worker and Belichik liked him I don't see how there's much downside to him. He wasn't even drafted but the Pats make stars of guys like that so maybe we got a steal there as far as a quality backup. Where is Brian St. Pierre btw? Didn't he wind up in AZ or something? Is he still there?

Brian St Pierre turned 33 on Wednesday. He started a game for the Carolina against Baltimore in 2010, A game where he threw 28 of his 33 career total passes. He hasn't been on anyone elses roster since. To put things in perspective BSP is about 2 months older than Byron Leftwich.

i can't believe you guys think ben was some longshot? he was a first round draft pick for this teams future. i don't think there was that much of a suprise after what we struggled through under cowher for years. heck cowher didn't even want ben. by the way bleed:smiley1:, hoyer has two weeks now in the offense. also 3 seasons under his belt in the nfl. it wouldn't be like we are putting a rookie in for charlie after 2 weeks. i wouldn't have a problem if they needed him. every week he's here is more he learns. two weeks is about half of camp. he should be getting more comfortable with the O.

I agree mac. To compare Hoyer to either Ben or Colin Kapernick for that matter is apples and oranges. Hoyer wasn't even drafted and both Ben and Kapernick were drafted in the first couple of rounds and were looked at as eventual starters. I'm just hoping Hoyer can be a solid backup and occasional effective starter if need be.

A few folks have said it already, but to say it can't get any worse with Hoyer is simply wrong.

I'd love to see him blossom here, take the no. 2 role, rally the team, etc. But he's been here just over a week. This is the NFL, not Waterboy.

he's had two weeks of practice and meetings. two gameplans now.

like i said , i would worry if he was just a rookie doing this but he learned for 3 years under belacheat and tom tom. he may not be refined in our system but he should be alot more up to speed this week then last.

we are not teaching him nfl fundamentals, just the jargon we use. he at least should be able to run the offense this week in some fashion.

i'm sure he learned quick release dink and dunk in NE. i don't think the O's are that much different. our guys are new in this offense too. this second week should have made a big difference for him. week 3 even better.

You're right, Thigpen, it could be worse. Hoyer could throw 4 interceptions and the team could commit 9 turnovers. ;)
