The Steelers shouldn't make the mistake of thinking they need to pay Watt more than what Garrett got, Parsons will end up getting more than Watt eventually.

IMO, alex highsmith better pick up his game to help this defense. captain jack and herbig could be breathing down his neck very soon. i like him but his production is not great from that side. we are kind of locked in to his pay for now though. this could possibly play into the amount TJ is offered. he got paid and we are receiving less instead of more out of that spot.

he and friermuth were not great signings. 31.5 million between the two this year for not a lot of production so far.

I disagree that they've been blowing it. The only significant overpay with respect to OTC's valuation metric has been Minkah.

Cam and Queen are two question marks this year. Cam's production justified his cost last year, but each new year at his age is increasingly risky. Queen's cap number jumps to double-digits this year, after last year's $6.5M value.

But even if they fall short, it's not like the team is turning anybody away for lack of resources. They're $35M under the cap and could easily shift some things around if they wanted to free up more.

i saw they are 31 mil. under on OTC. that is the top 51. add two and they are at around 29 mil. they just added a safety too. not sure of his contract yet. vet min. maybe. this will all change by the time they get to the 53 and PS.

Adds like Johnson won't affect much - he's most likely a vet minimum camp invite. Pretty sure Sawyer was the last of the top 51 at around $1.1M in salary/bonus, so even if Johnson bumps him off it wouldn't add more than a $100k or so. Aside from signing/trading for an established vet between now and the beginning of the season, they won't increase the cap much when rosters expand to 53. The practice squad adds about $3.5M.

That puts them around $26M, leaving them the $10M they like carrying into the season, and another $10M for Rodgers should he ever sign, with $6M to spare. Plus they still have others that could be on the chopping block (Patterson) or be re-structured to lessen their amount.

Maybe Watt want a chance to win the super bowl and right now the steelers are not one of those teams.I don't blame him if this is the case

It was Watt who didn't want to move around, then after the playoff loss to the Ravens he said he would be open to it in the future.
