Yeah I'd take him in a second. He actually had a pretty good year with the Jets despite his age and lack of QB.

from what i've been reading, the main reason why Plax is still without a job is that he's demanding too much money ... sound familiar?

All this is BS. I just want Wallace back. Plax and anyone else is a step down.

Cheapest deal he can sign is the same one TO signed...about 1 mill...with only about 600,000 hopefully counting against the cap (think thats what they said about TO's deal)

This is why I wished Hines hadn't retired and signed with NBC!

If Plex is back in the Steel City it is bad news for Mike Wallace,
That would mean to to me that the Steelers have moved on from Mike.
Isn't there new TV money coming shortly that will relieve this cap pressure?

I don't see any connection between a one year deal for Plex and a multi year deal for Wallace.....Mike Wallace is like getting sewn up by a doctor....Plex is like getting a band aid on you boo boo from your momma.

I said last spring that I'd take a WR line up of Brown, Plax, Cothery, and Sanders for the 2012 and 2013 seasons over Wallace, Sanders, and 3 no named scrubs for 2013 and beyond.

See, as much as I know it was a long time ago, and he's developed in many ways since then, my abiding memory of Plax is always a drop in the endzone he had in Ben's first year. Then after the drop, Cowher called for a field goal when there wasn't really much point in not going for it on 4th down. Now, I can't remember the game (except we lost), or who we were playing even... just think of the drop every time I think of Plax. So I can never think of him as a Red Zone monster.

I should probably live in the past less, though.

That said, I would rather we brought along some rookies this year.

I'm sure his contract only stops him from leaving to go to another network. It aint prison, he's allowed to quit.

    From Bleach Report:

Let's All Just Forget About Plaxico Burress Returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers
    By Andrea Hangst
(AFC North Lead Blogger) on August 7, 2012

Forget about it Steeler nation: Plaxico is not coming back, and that's a good thing.

We've been here before, and apparently we're here again: Will the Pittsburgh Steelers make a move for free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress?

I'm here to say that the answer is unequivocally and absolutely: No.

With contract negotiations with Mike Wallace still stalled out and apparently Burress owing a large back-tax bill, he's yet again been linked to his former team in what can only be called mathematics of convenience.

But it's not all that convenient. First is the fact that there's a reason why the Steelers didn't bite on Burress last year—they don't need him.

Even without Wallace on the field, Burress isn't necessary for the Steelers. Sure, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has repeatedly said he desires to always have a tall receiver to target, but even when his pleas weren't heeded, the Steelers still had a strong passing offense.

Even if Wallace's holdout extends into the regular season, there's no reason for Burress to return to Pittsburgh.

Burress is nearly 35 years old, and his best days are behind him. Even if he would be willing to drop what is considered to be an expensive asking price and play for veteran minimum cash, he still wouldn't be the Steelers' best, or even third-best, receiver on the roster.

And what do the Steelers get in return from Burress? A marginal red-zone target and a major locker room cancer. Burress was booted from the team for that very reason, and there's no point in bringing that element back into the fold.

Further, the Steelers themselves appear to have no interest in meeting with Burress, let alone signing him to a one-year deal.

Would you welcome Plaxico Burress back to the Steelers?
No way, never. Maybe, if Wallace's holdout continues into the regular season. Yes, he's still talented and will make a positive impact. Submit Vote vote to see results

Team general manager Kevin Colbert spoke to 97.3 FM The Fan's "Vinnie & Cook" show on Tuesday. He said straight out that Burress is not in their plans, adding that if the Steelers do look to bring on another receiver between now and the regular season, they will do so from the pool of roster cuts instead.

If the season starts and the Steelers' main receiving corps is comprised of Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery, that won't hurt them. Obviously, being without their star wideout is not a situation they hope comes to pass, but they aren't doomed to failure if he's not on the field.

What Burress may be able to offer the Steelers isn't worth the drama that is always swirling about him. Wallace's holdout is enough as it is; to compound it by bringing in Burress won't make things any better, especially once Wallace comes back to the team.

So no, just as the Steelers won't be trading Wallace, they won't be bringing on an over-the-hill troublemaker like Burress to provide insurance for an extended holdout. They're trying to make this situation better, not worse, and bringing back Burress would certainly make things a lot more difficult for everyone on the team.

I think that 'if' they did bring back Plex, it would be only after a trade of Wallace. I dont think the 2 would be on the same team.

Plus I think he did fine locker room wise in New York last year.

I still say that 'IF' they can get him for the league min (or close to it) for a year or two, they should pull the trigger provided they trade Wallace. If he is a giant pain in the ass, they can always cut him.

Plex still has something to offer and the Steelers are going to need a little something more if Wallace continues to play tough.

Plax owes the IRS $59K for unpaid taxes so I'm guessing he will be willing to take a lower offer than normal.

I would rather take a young receiver anyday over a aging Plaxico. The reason being is that the young receiver will be hungry for opportunity and put full effort while Plax is just looking to make some money and keep his name in the spotlight every now and then. Plax might have a few good catches but he will tank and not give full effort all the time. This is also why I think the Seahawks signing T.O. is one of the stupidest movies this offseason. He's just looking for money, a bit of attenion to stay relevant and is a cancer in the locker-room

The Steelers have already said that Wallace will definitely not be traded this year. My prediction is that he will be back before our second preseason game. No thanks to Burress, his time has come and gone. We don't need his lazy attitude and his its all about me drama. He had his chance, time is up, good riddance. Can't he just shoot himself in the leg again so he can retire already.

I would want him back in a heartbeat. He and Ben had a good chemistry. Nice to have him catch 30 balls for us - 10 of them touchdowns!
