So what is the plan for him??? Will he compete for the spot next pre-season? If Steelers draft a QB in 1st, 2nd round where's that leave him?

Curious to see Boards thoughts on this. I know he won a Championship at OSU. And of course he'll get a ring when his could be Father leads us to the SB;)

Likely the hope here is that he can be a long term back up. With some very small chance he can be a starter.

    Agreed
This is all for next season as long as we have a chance at the playoffs this season

If we can get better at that position with a rookie qb and have Will as a backup. Then, I would be fine with that. But, the key with this team is having the best asst coaches.

I'm hoping the Steelers clinch the division before week 18, and he gets a chance to play in week 18.

    Will's career is just starting.
There should not be any plans for trading him and such.

His role is to perform well in practice and always be ready and when his chance comes, put it on the field.

    1. Steelers win and Ravens lose this weekend.
    2. Steelers beat the Browns in 2 weeks.

If these things happen, Steelers will clinch in week 17, and week 18 will be irrelevant.

Steelers win their next three games(Dolphins, Lions, Browns), week 18 is irrelevant

Just think.. if we get lucky and get the Steeler win and Ravens loss combo this week, next week's Lions game is really irrelevant. The Browns game is the important game, as long as the Steelers beat the Dolphins. No matter what, if the Steelers beat the Dolphins, they will control their own destiny for the rest of the season. The Steelers could beat the Dolphins, lose the next two, and beat the Ravens in week 18 and still win the division.

Not so sure the Steelers draft a QB next year and if they do, will probably be after rd 1 so Howard would likely start the season in such a scenario.

There is also the possibility of Rodgers finishing the season strong and wanting to come back which would keep Howard on the bench.

We shall see. It's way too early to call, unless you mean the 2026 of this season, and then yeah, unless both our Qbs get hurt.

Even if the Steelers don't draft a QB in round one, they will probably bring in a free agent QB for competition.

Yup. They went out of their way to keep a 6th rd pick when they could have easily cut him. They like him and plan to see what he can do.

I agree, but it will ultimately come down to how much they spend on a FA Qb, and if Howard shows improvement.

Yeah the FA market for Qbs is really thin next year, but there maybe some cuts, always are. I actually wanted Cousins this year, I know thats funny, but I thought he would be a good stop gap.

Powerball is over 1 billion dollars. Sydney Sweeney would probably take those great jeans off for you if you ask nicely after you win. Probably have a better chance of seeing someone like Lizzo naked though after throwing away $2 on a losing ticket.

    This.

If anything, even if Rodgers doesnt come back, I still dont see the Steelers trading up for one with the possible exception of one key player; Dante Moore. Mind you, Pittsburgh has been to at least four of Moores Games this season. That level of interest cannot be ignored from a scouting perspective.

That all said, I am more convinced that, due to his age, Drew Allar will be a pick a lot of people wont see coming. Hell, even after he got injured, Pittsburgh visited Penn State six times already this season; five of which with Drew playing. That is even more of an indication to me.

That all said, Drew isnt a First Round Pick anymore. However, a Third Round Pick?! With the freakshow arm talent and arm strength that he has?! That is more than worthy enough of the team taking a swing on.

I wouldnt mind rolling the dice on Allar after the first and hope he or Howard hit.
