He better if not I think he gets the boot from the NFL .. I hope he develops a great play action game our QB says he loves it so if our Offense is not built around it he should be fired ..

What about the guy that is staying in the shadows and is never mentioned...The Steelers hired Glenn Thomas as an offensive assistant to work alongside Canada.

I posted this before but as the season unfolds, we will see what Glenn Thomas's likes to do on offense and what the Steelers actually do. He was brought in to work with Canada.

Glenn Thomas may be the key to unlocking Matt Canada’s offense

Thomas should mesh well with what the Steelers want to do on offense. He is a proponent of the zone run game, which Canada used almost exclusively last season. He has a connection to line coach Pat Meyer through Matt Rhule. Thomas was Rhule’s passing game coordinator at Temple and Baylor, while Meyer coached the line and coordinated the run game for Rhule with the Carolina Panthers. Thomas should understand, then, how to mesh the passing offense with Meyer’s run game, something Canada struggled with last season. And, at Arizona State, Thomas ran an NFL-style offense that integrated plenty of heavy personnel groupings, including ample use of tight ends and H-backs. As I wrote about last week, this is the direction I believe Canada has planned for next season’s Pittsburgh offense

A look at the film of Thomas’s time at ASU further clarifies the hire. While his offense failed to put up big numbers, it wasn’t for a lack of design. Thomas does some interesting things. In addition to the big groupings and heavy zone scheme, he incorporates lots of wide zone runs, which the Steelers never really got going last season. He moves the pocket with his quarterback, a strategy that proved beneficial with Kenny Pickett. He attacks the middle of the field in the passing game, which should be music to the ears of Steelers’ fans long frustrated by their reliance on dink-and-dunk throws to the boundaries. Tight ends are a big part of Thomas’s offense. He moves them all over the formation. He likes to use H-backs as fullbacks. He likes the Pistol formation. He likes the play-action pass. And he creates explosive plays.

Hence the replacement of Dotson on the OL

Aside from difficulties learning the playbook a knock on him is a lack of ability in zone run blocking

I will be so happy if he has such a positive impact to our passing game!

I think fans are going to be surprised by Canada's offense this season, I think they will open the offense up more than they did last season with Pickett being a rookie. I expect more explosive plays by throwing the ball down the field more, and improvement in the red zone.

Hey this year we will throw it downfield and take shots more often. 4 times a game which is double last year!

Being that he struggled with it then no it’s not time to feature it. They need to figure out whether or not he has improved with it. If so then you can use it as a staple. If not then it’s certainly not something you feature

I am not sold on Canada improving

My hope derives from Kenny's improvement in reading n understanding def and changing the call to put them in MUCH better play or position vs just running an inappropriate play

Who says I was trying to make a bold prediction? Some of you fans just like to whine about everything Canada does .
