It definitely wasn't perfect... The defense is definitely still a work in progress, but it was nice to see that we have the potential to be good again in the somewhat near future on that side of the ball. Shazier was everywhere, our DL ate up a fairly solid niners OL, and our secondary guys had a couple of nice break ups. We literally might be a good S from being really darn good again. Another good CB wouldn't hurt either lol

I know the niners aren't the best offense in the league, but it was nice to see us dominate someone defensively again, and we did so for about 3 quarters. So nice to see. We need to keep making strides, but this definitely has me excited about the future of our D. Idt there is anything wrong with celebrating a good performance when we have one. We certainly melt down when we have a poor showing.

I agree totally mac. Not taking anything away from what we did yesterday but we still have a ton of work to do. The most troublesome thing is we are spending way too much time on the field. That's my ultimate gauge for how good a d is.

We led the league in Offensive TOP last season and our D wasn't very good. While its a good stat to have in your favor, there are a lot of factors involved.

You'll be on the field all day when the O scores with ease all day like we did. We only had like 10 more offensive plays than points haha

My ultimate gauge is how many points they allow. They can stay on the field for most of the game for all I care. :)

The key is improvement. That happened between week 1 and week 2. Now they need to continue to get better. If that happens week to week our defense could be plenty enough given how potent our offense could and should be. As an opposing defense what do you take away? Ben and his plethora of receivers (AB, Wheaton, Heath, Bell, DHB, Bryant, DA Williams) or the running game with Bell and DA Williams. This offense as long as it stays healthy should be scary good. If Ben continues to get time like he did yesterday many teams will suddenly be one dimensional which really helps a defense.

Yeah but you have to admit they did leave at least a td on the field. Also the more chances you give an NFL offense, especially in this era, the worse your chances are of keeping the score low.

i agree this was a fun game to watch and some improvement was made, but i'm not thinking we are where we need to be yet. i'm just saying we gave up a lot and they helped us a lot by dropping catches. we also dinged up their RB early. we will see in some tighter games if everybody feels the same. the schedule isn't going to ease up any time soon. we also will see some more of these running qb's. johnny dirtball comes to mind.

i also agree BFT about getting off the field. we don't have enough depth on the D-line to stay out there for prolonged stretches for an entire game. our O is scoring faster too which means less rest. the O will continue to get better as players come back too. deep threats don't eat clock very slowly.

overall good game but we have to keep getting better on the back end. how long we keep and can keep this group together past this year is up in the air too. again, not much in the pipeline to build on for next year at this rate. i do want to see cockrell do great this year, that gives us 1.

I hope Coach Fisher doesn't get smart this week and insert Brian Quick into the line up . We have no CB who can cover him . I saw his private work out in Boone he will have a monster day against our CB'S . Fisher says he hasn't got the playbook down yet due to his injury , as stated I hope that's still the case...

Will Allen is a very serviceable safety for a 2 game stretch,
it is a shame that he is our starter? WOW
