Does anyone believe, even though it isn't a popular pick, the FO should choose Nix as it could make the whole defense better?

No. I have been saying it for a while, but I think he slips. He is a great talent, but I think he is a 2nd round pick when all is said and done. I just don't see a slot for him in the draft....I just don't. There are either better players available to the teams who also need a NT or the team has signed a NT. I just don't see him being the pick for us for sure. I will be shocked if he is. Right now I expect a WR or a CB.

    I think he slips, too.

    Welcome to the board, Curtain.

With the signing of Wilfork, it becomes more likely that Nix/Hagaman are there in the 2nd round pick 46. Nose guards are devalued in the draft more than rbs.

If Nix is there in the second, I'd grab him in a heartbeat. Not at 15 or even the first round though.

I think that may be a no brainer. It would not surprise me if we have a couple of picks like that. I expect a guy to slip to us in both rounds.

Agreed. I believe another guy that could still be on the board in the second is Kelvin Benjamin. Stay tuned...

This may sound weird, but it would not surprise me if Benjamin was our #1 pick. Yes, I know he could go much lower, but I think that argument can be made about almost anyone after that first 10-12 guys, at least when it comes to us.

I hope not! Not at 15 anyway. The only way this would be acceptable is if we trade back and pick up an extra draft pick or two.

Thanks TTF! I have been a daily reader on the site since the mass exodus from the message board at steelers.com.

I am increasingly feeling like we are looking at CB and WR with TE and DE as dark horse picks.

Let's take a look at just one mock. When I look at the mock, here are the guys I see AFTER our pick right now....

Taylor Lewan - Don't want, we already have this guy in Mike Adams
Calvin Pryor - S not a first round need
Brandin Cooks - WR who is another midget
Zack Martin - G/T who will eventually be a G, not a first round need
Ra'Shded Hageman - DE who we could say the same thing you just said about Benjamin...not without trading back
CJ Mosley - not sure what to think here, but to me it comes down to what the FO thinks about V. Williams, I think they pass
Marqise Lee - a speed guy, but I would take the physicality of Benjamin as a better fit right now for us
David Yankey - G, not first round need
Bradley Roby - Off field concerns and honestly I don't personally like him
Jason Verrett - mocked here at pick 25. So couldn't we also trade back for him?
    Manziel - QB, no
Ealy - OLB was our first round pick last year, I doubt we take one 2 years in a row with all of our other holes
Beckham - Here we are at 28 with a WR again.
Louis Nix - like I have already said in this thread to me...he might be there at 2
    Kelvin Benjamin
Ryan Shazier - same argument you made for Benjamin
Dee Ford - would be OLB for us probably, see Ealy. If DE, not sure he would be my first choice

Now let's look at the earlier picks:
    1. Bortles QB, no need
    2. Clowney, will be gone by pick 3
    3. Mack, really like but will be gone and it would surprise me if he fell to us
    4. Watkins - difference maker but also #1 WR on everyone's board
    5. Carr QB, no need
    6. Greg Robinson, worth our pick for sure
    7. Mike Evans, would clearly be worth our pick, but will be gone probably
    8. Bridgewater QB, no need
    9. Jake Matthews, would run to the table to take him need or not
    10. Gilbert, CB impact would love him at 15
    11. Barr OLB from UCLA which leaves a bad taste in my mouth, don't see a OLB in round 1
    12. Aaron Donald, 3 weeks ago people would have said at 15, no trade down, now look
    13. Darqueze Dennard, another guy I saw this mantra about, but he is climbing and I would take him
    14. Clinton Dix, S not a first round need
    15. Ebron...Yep a TE

Now a lot to take in I know, but it is Friday and I have time to kill since my clients have all gone home for the day.

Right now, I am looking at this:

    Dennard or Gilbert
Evans or Benjamin (who to me is no worse of a pick than Cooks, Lee, or Beckham)
    Ebron

That is my projection for who we look at.

On another note, they have us taking:

    1. Ebron
    2. Tuitt
    3. Purifoy
    4. Ellington WR from South Carolina
    5. Morgan Breslin OLB/DE from USC
    5. James White RB from Wisc

just because we would want to go back doesn't mean someone who want to come up. if its who they want I don't care if its 15 or 25

If Nix slips to the second which really could happen then absolutely but before that no. I would think about moving up a few spots to grab him if I thought someone else wanted him in the second but not much.
