Fun as hell to look forward this time of year. I am just happy we have the chance to have fun with this. I admit after the 1-4 start I guessed by now I would have switched to the Penguins. Amazing amazing season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still feel this team goes 9-7. Maybe playoffs?

They can beat Buffalo in Pittsburgh. Will just have to win an ugly low scoring game which this team does!

The next one against Buffalo is huge.
The Titans are also coming on, really have to hope the Texans take them out, and they were bad today

Steelers will be disadvantaged because of Lamar's dark skin color with a dark football with a dark uniform.

Believe it or not, the two biggest results today (one helps the Steelers, one really hurts)

    1. Ravens beating Buffalo, which means if the Ravens beat the Jets, then the Browns, their week 17 games vs Pittsburgh doesn't matter to them.
    2. Colts blowing the game vs TB, which now means they not likely to get to 9-7 (since the Colts are 6-7 and have the Saints next week). Why is the big - because at 9-7, the Colts win any 9-7 tiebreaker vs. Houston or Tennessee (which takes them out of a 9-7 tiebreaker with Pittsburgh and put the Colts vs the Steelers at 9-7, which Pittsburgh wins head to head).

Now, if the Steelers go 1-2 (possible) and wind up 9-7, the Steelers will likely be out. The Steelers lose tiebreakers to Houston at 9-7 all the way around. They can get to 9-7 and win a tiebreaker if the beat the Bills (winning common opponents) or if the Titans lose both to the Texans (via Conf record). But if the Titans win either game vs the Texans and the Steelers don't beat the Bills, they're out at 9-7.

The good news, at 10-6, the Steelers win all tiebreakers for the 6 seed, no matter how the teams get there.

So the Colts losing today, means the Steelers have to win a 2nd games over the last 3 weeks. Had the Colts won today, the Steelers likely would have been in at 9-7. Now they probably have to get to 10-6. The only way the Steelers get in at 9-7, is to beat the Bills and have the Bills lose to the Pats (better than average chance) and then lose to the Jets (highly doubtful) or have the Texans sweep the Titans (probably unlikely).

You can pretty much stick a fork in both the Raiders and the Colts who lost and are both now 6-7. It’s a 3 team race for 2 spots between the Steelers, Bills, and Titans. A win next week against the Bills I think will go a long way to clinching a playoff spot. The Bills and Titans schedules are much much tougher then the Steelers so I really think 9 wins will be the magic number for the Steelers to get in.

The Bills are already at 9 and they're getting to 10 at least, they'll win week 17 at home vs the Jets. So now it's down to the Steelers and the South runner up (either Houston or Tennessee) and the 9-7 ties with either of them isn't good for the Steelers unless the Steelers beat Buffalo and wind up tied with Tennessee.

I just went to the ESPN playoff machine and had the Steelers winning against the Bills and Jets but losing to the Ravens. I had the Texans and Titans splitting their 2 games and had the Titans losing against the Saints, the Texans winning against the Bucs and had the Bills losing to the Patriots but defeating the Jets. The result was the Steelers would be the #5 seed and play the #4 seed Texans while the Titans would be the #6 seed and play against the #3 seed Chiefs.

    Not possible.

The Bills are 9-4. If the Bills beat the Jets and lose to the Steelers and Pats, they'd finish 10-6.
Titans are 8-5. If the Titants split with the Texans and lose to the Saints, they'd finish 9-7.

    The Bills are getting in.

The Steelers either need to beat the Bills or both the Jets and Ravens to avoid losing a 9-7 tiebreaker.

The other long shot the Steelers have is the Colts to win out and get to 9-7 (highly unlikely) to eliminate either Houston or Tennessee at 9-7 on division tiebreakers.

I want 10 wins for the Steelers, then it most likely won't come down to tiebreakers. We need Houston to win the South, and the Titans to lose 2 more games.

I inadvertently typed in the Titans as the #6 seed instead of the Bills.

Just keep winning baby. As of right now, they are the 6th seed. According to NFL.com

    Hey Jujubean.

Once again it comes down to the "D" to move the barometer up even another notch as some may think that is asking too much. As well as mistake-free football from the QB (So far, pretty good) and emerging performances from "O" players as well each week. Every week, the team has to move the bar of performance higher. That is just the fact of the matter. One may think that is asking too much but that is just reality as the regular season winds down. There is no margin of error left here folks IMO. We must win out. It is the "Least Path of Resistance".

Yea the game with the Bills next week is huge because it allows the Steelers to win a tiebreaker over the Titans if they somehow lose the last two games to the Jets and Ravens if the Titans split with Houston. They would both have the same AFC Conference record but the Steelers would win the common opponents opponents tiebreaker since they beat the Bills and Colts and the Titans lost to both of them.

As for finishing ahead and getting in over the Bills it guarantees the Steelers if they go 1-1 in their last two games assuming the Bills lose in New England and beat the Jets and finish 10-6 that the Steelers get in at 10-6 over the Bills by winning the head to head tiebreaker over them, and would get in over the Titans as well if they would happen to finish 10-6.

So the bottom line is like you been saying JPP there are ways in still for the Steelers if they don’t happen to beat the Bills, but it would be much much more difficult and the odds would not favor them a lot with tiebreakers with teams like Tenn and Houston if they don’t beat the Bills. Like you were saying as well having Indy losing today in Tampa and decreasing their odds of finishing 9-7 to maybe help cancel out the Titans or Texans for the Steelers could come back to hurt them if the Steelers don’t beat the Bills and get involved in a 9-7 Tiebreaker with both the Titans or Houston somehow.

After watching Houston get owned yesterday, I wouldn't count on them beating anyone right now. Lets just hope they play better.

The New York times playoff predictor has moved the Steelers chance to make the playoffs up to 69%.

I think it's going to take 10-6 to get in. That means taking care of business against a bad Jets team and knocking off either the Bills or Ravens. If they can't beat even one good team during the regular season, the playoffs are just going to get ugly, anyway.

Yeah the Titans look scary good on offense..
But they have three games remaining and they could lose all three.. Two with Texans and one with Saints..

We lost to Baltimore by only 3 the first time and this team is playing better. Bring them on.

The Ravens are better, too, but the Steelers do have a shot. They were one of the few teams to do a really good job on Jackson this season the first time around.

We will have a much clearer picture of if the Steelers are gonna get in the playoffs without much of a problem at all or if they will need help doing so after this game with Buffalo on Sunday night. We all need to be big Houston Texans fans on Sunday regardless as we want the Titans to lose as many games as possible these next 2-3 weeks. The tiebreakers with the Titans if the Steelers happen to lose to the Bills and they both finish 9-7 are very much not in their favor. A win against the Bills and it would be hard not to see the Steelers getting in even they lose out to the Jets and Ravens and finish 9-7. They would have a lot of tiebreakers working in their favor.
