    A) Not when you understand the NFL.

    B) What coach doesn't have short comings? People complained about Cowher. Pats fans complain about BB. People will complain about the next HC after Tomlin is gone.

Yeah the results of winning speaks volumes. Winning is why Tomlin keeps his job.

Tomlin has had an above average coaching career up to this point. Anyone that can't see that is clueless.

They haven't missed the playoffs just yet, the same Dirty Red who got knocked on his ass on the fake punt , which is the reason the play didn't work.

I don't know Tomlin personally but here is my perception based on what others said.

Tomlin is a natural leader. Good communicator. He connects with his players. As a result, he brings out the best in players and his players enjoy playing for him. He is confident in his team's ability to overcome adversity. Tomlin is a motivator. Tomlin is an X and O's coach even though fans don't give him credit. He also pays attention to the details that helps the team win. There's obviously a certain level of football intelligence that it takes to become a HC in the league. That should go without being said though.

Most importantly he's help this team win a lot of games. Ultimately that's what it boils down to.

I thought that too but you know how sports work, win a Championship or you're a bum.

Is that a strength? What exactly does he di well? OC runs the O...DC runs the D...Is he good at clock management?

    Challenges?

Making sure his team is up for inferior teams?

    Disciplinarian?

Adds a unique twist or innovation due to his specific background, Defense? Specifically the secondary which was his specialty?

My biggest complaint about Tomlin is he tends to let players get away with too much. A few years back we were getting a celebration penalty after just about every score. A head Coach has to nip that in the bud asap. Seems he finally has that under control.

It never ends with some of you.

There were times clock management was on point with the team.

I am not sure why people make such a big deal about challenges?????????

I don't believe in inferior teams at the professional level. Teams with lesser records have the talent and coaching to beat your team.

    Tomlin disciplined his players.

Tomlin's specialty is as a HC.

X's and O's no way...Attention to detail...No way...I think the motivation part, and the players like to play for him part...Never seen him go nose to nose with a player, throw a player under the bus...He is a players Coach but...

You need to be more than a Cheerleader and an eloquent talker...I thinks that's also why this team is always undisciplined, and always ( not knowing ) when to keep their mouths shut...Every week, some kind of drama...

Celebrations after giving up 1st downs...Celebrations after NOT getting 1st downs!!!!!!!

Chest thumping like their Coach...When they shouldn't be

Burgh...I try to be respectful to other posters, because basically this is an opinion board....I'm not a Tomlin fan, you are...That's fine...No biggie, It really isn't...

I just think this team would be better, and would have had been better for awhile now...

Tomlin is not going anywhere...Butler, Porter will be gone...So they did something...

I'll still cheer like hell every week...Especially this week...Because hoping this isn't the last week

Not yet..... And actually I truly believe our chances of making the playoffs are better than most believe.

The Browns are playing surprisingly well and beating the Ratbirds would be their Super Bowl !!! Greg Williams WILL have them ready!!!

    We should destroy the Bungles!!!

I just wanted to contradict pro Tomlin post. If Tomlin doesn't make serious changes this offseason he needs to be the next gone!!

If you 'understand the NFL', you should understand why challenges used incorrectly are a big deal.

I understand the NFL. How many games did the Steelers lose as a result of lost challenges? Only fans want to make a big deal about lost challenges as a negative criticism.

I can show you the amount of games they loss as a result of turnovers.

This is part of the problem. The standard (which is the standard) has dipped so low that a botched challenge is considered fine, because it wasn't catastrophic. Would you do something with a negative result 10 times in a row without trying a different approach? Plus, If I went back through the games where Tomlin blew a challenge, I think I could find at least one directly related to a loss.

Win percentage for active coaches with 50 or more games.
    BB .682
    Tomlin .643
    Peterson .620
    Payton .616
    Mccarthy .613
    Reid .599

All D averages by any school's measure. Slightly above average? Just bringing a little perspective for you.

It's not a problem. It's about placing things in the proper perspective. A lot of times challenges are a 50/50 proposition based on the various factors involved. Often times Coaches have less time and limited views to make decisions. Even the refs don't get calls right even after review.

Again, tell me how many games did the Steelers lose as a result of challenges? Sorry but I don't believe that losing challenges have that big an impact on out come of games. Show me the statistics and it will sway my view.

For me this season boiled down to turnovers. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. The Steelers turned the ball over to much.

All that winning and here we sit hoping the Browns can help back us into the playoffs. And Tomlin's winning percentage in those playoffs is right around .500.
