I was having fun reading it until that mother ****er started ripping on Pittsburgh and it's citizens. I can't stand that especially considering how highly rated the city is. People who attack it obviously have never been there and don't keep up with city rankings. No city in the USA is as friendly as pgh. My wife was in awe how no matter where we went people were so friendly and acted as if they have known her since grade school. Some of the comments were ridiculous as well. Like the jag off who said he moved to pgh and can't believe Heinz is suing pgh because pgh was still bankrupt and on government support. Guess what that was removed last year and the Heinz company doesn't own the field just the naming rights. Attack the Steelers all you want but it's classless to attack a city and that's any city. That's just how I feel about it some may feel differently but being from there I take it really personal.

O.K..... So I got a short attention span, or ADHD, or sumthin, but the first part, before all the comments I couldn`t read thru, was pretty freakin funny...
There`s gotta be a grain of truth, in good comedy, right?
Fair to say, we are a pretty spoiled group of fans, and, YES, Kordell, and Brister SUCK.... TWICE!!! LOL!!!

Visited Pittsburgh for the first time for a Steeler game a couple seasons back, If I wasn't locked into NY, I think I'd move there.

All tongue (mostly) in cheek, and I believe they do this for every team. Although, I have to admit the writer and some of the "alleged" fan comments were well researched. He must have spent plenty of time in message boards or bars. For comedy to work, there has to be a grain or 2 of truth, after all. ;)

Some of the fan comments were hilarious! If you can keep your sense of humor about you anyway. My favorite might have been:

"The average age of our defense is death." :roflmao:

I'm from the south which is the capital of hospitality and friendliness and I tell people a LOT when they ask me what it's like in Pittsburgh I always tell them that people are VERY nice. I've had a lot of people aggravate me about my accent but it's all in good fun and then they will recommend a place for me to eat or tell me the best way to eat a sandwich or something. The people in Pittsburgh are very nice and maybe not AS hospitable as a true southerner but they certainly aint New Yorkers. (Sorry Tommy Boy) LOL!

I don't know what part of the south you are from but I'm currently living in Winston Salem NC and to me there is no southern hospitality here. My wife agrees and she has lived here her whole life. We actually almost moved back before her mom got cancer and she was pushing to move more then I was.

    We'd just take your sandwich.

I don't think NC counts, had a friend who was thinking about moving their, went to check it out and came back and said forget it, rude people. I'm sure not everyone is but just found it interesting that you said that.

Man everyone I talk to who lives here but isn't from here says the same thing. When my mom moved here her and her neighbor were talking and her neighbor said "o you're a yankee Italian and Catholic good luck" in the 12 years my mom lived next her she may have said 10 things to her after that. My wife's dad side won't talk to my wife and I because I'm a yankee.

Ohhh so it's like that. It's one thing for strangers to act that way towards yankees but really messed up that your father in-law won't even talk to his own daughter because of one

He will but her her grandma, aunts, and cousins won't. I was kinda shocked by it to be honest. They were all excited to meet me and right when I started talking the look on their face was horrible. I got my revenge though they are strict southern Baptist and it just so happened one Xmas eve the Steelers and ravens played needless to say I was slurring so bad you couldn't hear the pittsburgheze

East TN baby!!! That's funny that you say that about NC because when Jefferson Davis was running during the Civil War after the invasion of Richmond he tried to take refuge in NC and no one would help him and he always held it against them for not being hospitable as a southerner. That was in 1865. I guess not much has changed. LOL.

What part of Winston-Salem? You need to spend time with people out in Davie or Davidson county!

LOL. I've been to Cincy for a few games and I can definitely say they don't represent old Dixie too well. They weren't in the CSA though. Richmond VA was the capital and now I really don't even think of northern VA as part of the south but southern VA is about like East TN. Now northern VA has too many people from all over to be a truly southern place. It's weird because FL is as far south as you can get but only parts of it are truly "southern" ya know? Too many of them there stupid yanks have invaded it! HA!

Man I wouldn't want to go to Memphis! That's probably the most dangerous place in TN. There's more crime there than anywhere. East TN is the actual "country" part of the state. I've got some good buddies in Nashville and they don't even sound southern and actually laugh at the way I talk. A lot of people move to Nashville for business purposes but on this end of the state it's just people who have lived here all their lives and plan to die here. I've lived in the same house on the same 40 acre farm all my life and only went to one elementary school and one high school and that's probably 90% of the people's stories around here.

Hi, btw. (I almost forgot my southern hospitality.) I actually live in Clemmons. Howdy neighbor. I've been down here since '89 and pretty much blend in. My in-laws got to the point of ragging on Yankees and forgetting that I am one. It is weird that I get defensive about the Yankee stuff at the same time getting defensive about the "southern" stereotypes.

The one thing that I noticed since being down here is that the Southern Hospitality is sort of phony alot of the time. You get a smile and a 'Hey' to your face but they can't really stand you. I miss the bluntness of the North sometimes. At least you know where you stand

Two years ago, I was all set to move to western PA. Wanted to do so before my older daughter started kindergarten. But the job I thought I had lined up fell through. Those are the breaks.

Pittsburgh routinely ranks very high in Places Rated Almanac's rankings of U.S. Cities, and has even been #1 a few times.

My wife and I went to Heinz last year for the 1st time ever in Pitt. and all the people we talked to were very friendly. If you want rude and unfriendly, try being a Californian in Oregon! I spent 3 days in Newport and was, apparently, completely invisible! I didn't even have to talk. They somehow knew I was from California and, therefore, was not to be talked to!
