Right. Or sell it to me and I'll drive the 11 hours for every home game.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head with your “too cheap to fire a coach” comment. He’s under contract until next season and they have to pay him anyway, so why not keep him. This is the mindset of mediocrity. With their pathetic offensive performance over the last two years under Canada’s leadership, he should have been sent packing the day after their season ended!

We wish we were that competitive.

We're worse than that. We're Marvin Lewis Bengals with no threat of making any playoff noise. They at least had the threat of getting it done...until they didn't.

Geez, I didn't realize how truly awful Tomlin is at picking/hiring coordinators. I guess that "no Tomlin coaching tree" thing is easily explainable now. Still not sure why Tomlin isn't on a really hot, hot seat, starting a couple of seasons ago.

Proof we are going in the right direction based on the stats

    Excellent support post

Apparently Andersen does not have a clue about growth potential or extrapolation

The second half improvement thing is bs. Look at the record of those teams. Bal only winning record and they didn’t have Lamar and were on a losing streak.

To make such a decision, keeping an OC that hasn't really been special, one has to have a ton of chutzpa.
It's one thing to develop your own talent but it is totally another when the ceiling is so low.

I usually am not one to toss myself on the floor and have a tizzy when it comes to coaching and the blame game, it is just too easy to place
false blame. Speaking on a team I am very well acquainted with, Washington, they just fired Scott Turner.
Scott Turner's offense is not the issue there. The issue is having 'D' and 'F' grade QB's for decades.
Cananda had Ben at the end of his career and couldn't really find a way to be effective.
I am only so-so on his development on Kenny Pickett. I hated the fact that in his early going he was putting the rookie in a gunslinger role, throwing 50 times in a game.

I don't feel the 'whoa, despair, agony and misery' but I am disappointed.
I kind of expected them to find a young innovator.

I would probably feel better if they went out and brought in some help like a Frank Reich to work with the QB.

Worst thing that could have happened was pulling out wins vs below 500 teams somehow convincing leadership things are fine and dandy. Meanwhile the offense overall still looked like crap. Next year as we struggle to get to 500 or smoked in rd 1 as the 7 seed I’m sure the homers will pull the usual but but but….

True story: I worked with a guy who made it to 6 home games a few years back and we live 7-8 hours from the stadium. Best part, he made it back to work Monday 4 of the times or we would have killed him. Two of the games he had off the following day.

Im interested if this is something Tomlin has said flat out, or if it’s a line from a press conference following a tight, low scoring game?

LeBeau was already DC when Tomlin took over here and is an all time great
Butler had a handshake deal in place for years to succeed LeBeau
Arians was on the staff and Tomlin promoted him to OC
Haley was a Rooney hire and did what he was brought here to do
Fichtner was on the staff and promoted to OC

Fichtner and Butler I’d say are the two that didn’t do well. The rest were all successful.

Now they have Austin as DC and jury is out on him but early returns seem promising and of course Canada who will need a big turn around next season to be seen as anything other than a complete failure.

Overall that list is pretty good but don’t think you can call most of those guys part of Tomlins coaching tree. Austin and Canada would be part of it.

He’s talking about teachable moments with that quote. Your players can’t learn to win the tough hard fought close games if they are winning on easy street.

He wants battle tested men that can win in the playoffs when the games are tighter and stakes higher.
