Why the Standard are so low for the steelers now?

The Jets? I think they are having buyer's remorse over Zack Wilson. Jets got a QB and he flopped. Young or Stroud could also be flops... and Levis could end up being the best QB of the draft for all we know. We won't know until the rubber hits the road and they get some snaps.

Rodgers was projected to be a top-five pick. He was one of only six players the NFL invited to be in the green room for the draft that year. Most teams had a very small difference between him and Alex Smith, who went No. 1 overall.

Do you ever tire of embarrassing yourself like this?

The Giants were committed to Daniel Jones for at least another year. They made that very clear going into the draft. Yet again, you demonstrated that you do not know what you are talking about.

The Texans are a disaster. Judging anything based on what they do is foolish.

    The Falcons simply screwed up.

It's not that difficult. Just because a guy isn't No. 1 overall doesn't mean he isn't a first-round talent. Why is that such a challenge for you to understand?

I did, and even if you don't like my answer, your claim that I haven't considered it is a blatant lie.

Brady Quinn is questioning whether Pickett or Levis is better and that is gospel to you? You're funny.

Ok, but the point still remains that if the Steelers would have passed on a QB last year, there is nothing guaranteeing they would have been in a position to get one of the top guys this year. Especially considering that each one of those guys this year has question marks of their own. None of them are can't miss QBs.

I think the Steelers win six or seven games if Trubisky and/ir Rudolph play all of last season. That doesn’t get them a high enough pick for Stroud or Young, the only two who are better prospects now than Pickett was last year at this time.

I think Bryce young is can't miss. Stroud is close as well.

They could've traded with the bears.

That doesn't make you pro ready. He was by many considered a qb who needed to sit.

They may have taken a qb if they saw one worth taking. The chiefs TRADED UP and took mahomes when they still were committed to Alex for another yr. Having An already established starter does not stop a team from taking a qb.

That is even less of a guarantee because there was no way to know which teams would have those first two picks or what it would cost to trade for one of them. You are going to dislocate a shoulder with a reach that ridiculous.

Smith was a free agent who had already come up short in San Francisco by then, not a long-term answer. The Giants had invested a first-round pick in Jones and still believed he could be their guy. The two situations were not comparable.

Seriously, you don't know what you are talking about. Between this, Lawrence, your new foolishness about Rodgers, and your devotion to the words of Brady Quinn, I'm starting to feel bad for you.

And you think the Steelers would have had the first pick this year? Or the draft capital to move up?

Here are some recent trade-ups for Qb for our “analyst”

2021 - 49ers trade 2022 and 2023 1st round picks to move up 9 spots for Trey Lance (who was less pro-ready than Rodgers). That’s working out GREAT so far

2021 - Bears trade a 2022 1st and two other picks to move up 9 spots to take Justin Fields. That’s working out GREAT so far. Great enough that they earned the #1 pick in the draft after his second season.

2018 - Jets trade 3 2nd round picks to move up 3 spots for Darnold. Legend!

2018 - Bills trade 2 1st round picks to move up 5 spots for Josh Allen. Ding ding ding! We finally have a winner!

2018 - Cards trade 2 picks to move up 5 spots for Josh Rosen. Ouch!

    2017 - Bears trade 2 3rds and a 4th to move up ONE spot for Trubisky! Well….OK

2017 - Chiefs trade a 1st and a 3rd to move up 17 spots for Mahomes. Ding ding ding! Jackpot

2017 - Texans trade a 2018 1st to move up for Watson. It seems good at the time, but that trade is definitely rubbing peoples the wrong way now.

2016 - Rams trade…. well, almost their entirety of high picks for 2 years to move up for Goff. Oops

2016 - Not to be outdone the Eagles trade a bunch of picks to move up for Wentz. That worked out so well that they finally won a playoff game and Super Bowl when he got hurt.

The last 10 times a team has traded up in the 1st round for a QB, so far it’s paid real dividends 3 times. I guess you can try to say 4 if you count Goff getting to a Super Bowl, sucking in it, and getting run out of town. Maybe Lance or Fields will turn out OK. Maybe.

This. Even if Trubisky started all the games.... Steelers would have won at least 7 games.

You don't know but you could've definitely blown a team away with an offer. We've seen teams jump far distances in terms of where they're picking to go up to a top pick. Why are you acting like this is something that's so difficult for teams to do?

The steelers have all their future draft picks rn so what was going to happen during the season that they wouldn't have them right now?

And Daniel Jones had come up short. We've seen teams give far shorter leashes then what he got by being able to remain the starter. Investing a first round pick means nothing as Arizona took Josh Rosen 10th and turned around and traded him a year later. Browns took baker 1 and he did more than daniel jones and they got rid of him and got deshaun. They probably felt going for one of the guys last yr was a lateral move at best so they stuck with jones. They still don't really believe in him as the deal they gave him has an out after 2 years.

And that doesn't matter. Hasn't Derek carr showed time and time again to lme up short and someone is still trusting him as a starter? What about Jimmy G? That doesn't dictate anything. The chiefs saw someone who would be better than Alex so that's why they got him. Not because they weren't committed to Alex, he had the best seasons of his career in KC so his San Fran days weren't really relevant.

They couldn't have matched what the panther slave up? The steelers don't have their future picks or something?

I'm paying attention to that more then anything this yr. The number 1 thing I can't wait for is to see what kenny Pickett does.

And what example from a past Steeler draft would ever lead you to believe they would give up that much draft capital to move to number one or number two?
The two biggest moves on draft day since 2000 have been the move up to get Troy Polamalu in 2003 and the move up in 2019 to get Devin Bush.
The move up for Troy was from pick 27 to 16 and they gave up that year's third and sixth round pick. The move up to get Devin Bush was from number 20 to number 10. They gave up their second round pick that year and the following years third round pick.
In order for Carolina to get the number one pick from Chicago, they had to give them their number 9 and number 63rd pick this year, their first round pick next year, their 2nd round pick in 2025, and they had to throw in DJ Moore who is a number one receiver.
That seems like a pretty steep price to pay for a guy that may not be a sure thing.
