You are welcome to your opinion, but some of us are smart enough to realize we don't know that. You have clearly demonstrated that you are blinded by physical traits in evaluating a position that is largely mental.

The Burrow comparisons come from a similar career arc in college and somewhat similar physical attributes.

 

He didn't drop in the draft. He was projected to go in the first round and that's where he went. I know there were some mock drafts that had him in the top 10, but those were based on the assumption that somebody would talk themselves into taking a quarterback that high regardless of where he belonged.

Your statistical analysis, such that it is, fails to take into account the way he was mismanaged early on, then held back by a very conservative, poorly-coordinated offense. The eye test matters, too, and yours failed you.

 

How is college career arc similar? Burrow had the arguably best season for a qb in college football history. Pickett had nothing close to that.

The only elite or top tier qb with non transcendent physical traits that's CURRENTLY in the 2023 version of the nfl and not 2001 or the past, is joe Burrow. And for him to prove himmself he's had to go to heights others haven't.

 

Because if you look at history of all most every draft in the past decade, teams have reached foe qbs when they needed one when they had no business doing so.

Lawrence was mismanaged his entire rookie yr, had complete turmoil around him, vad offensive personnel, and went to an unstable franchise, and still look alot better than what Pickett did so stop with the excuses.

Man, the Joe Burrow fan club must have a lot of perks! Comparing players to other current or former ones is quite a common practice. Being a football analyst, I would think you would be aware of this. My advice to you would be to stop taking people to task for making comparisons that mean absolutely nothing at this time. Here's just one quick example of a comparison about your boy leading up to the 2020 draft.

 

I have followed LSU football since I lived in Louisiana for a few years, so I'm well aware of Burrow's career arc. What you don't seem to know is that he was a mediocre starter his junior year at LSU, a guy who was projected to be a late-round draft pick if he was taken at all. Then he had a monster senior season. Pickett was also projected to be a late-round pick before his final year at Pitt, then he had a great final season. You do realize he was a Heisman Trophy finalist in college, right? No, his season wasn't as good as Burrow's. I didn't say their arcs were identical, just similar.

Because someone jokingly said Pickett is Herbert with small hands. Good luck trying to figure any of this out. Funny thing is, all this "small hands" business with Pickett was the same for Burrow when he was entering the draft. Picketts measure 8.5" while Burrow's are a whopping 9"! No I didn't make any excuses. I said he dealt with all that and still looked better then Pickett.

 

And after that season Pickett was projected and some mocks to fall in the draft. Burrow was like the no doubt unanimous number 1 pick. Pickett was good his final season but burrow was on a level like 5 steps above him. Man was having playoff games scoring 7 tds.
