I can see Najee coming back once he sees what his FA value is

I’m not suggesting they dump him

Agree with this. There had to be a reason, and maybe it was just that - see what others would pay and then decide if it was worth it. Risky though, especially with no apparent backup plan/path.

Even if they did take the 5th they would only be pushing the same situation back a year

Oh, come on now. You don't think our genius GM would let us go into a season with a giant void at a skill position do you?

    Oh, wait....

The Steelers usually let their players go out and see what
is available on the FA market. If Najee has an offer that the Steelers want to
match they probably will. If they feel he is not worth what other teams
might pay then they will let him go to highest bidder.

Yeah, the Jets want to hire a guy who makes decisions like this in crunch time.

I swear Patterson must have something on Smith. There is no other rational explanation why he gets touches at the most critical times.

I’m almost to the point where I want Warren carrying the ball all the time. Now on 3rd or 1 or 4th 1 (like we had in the last game) I am fine with Najee or Patterson running the ball for short yardage, why we don’t do this is beyond me.

This and the outside runs to CP, seems to have replaced the (in the past) overuse of the bubble screen and jet sweeps, our QB's have multiple pages of the playbook on their wrists, seems like our OC's call the 2 plays high lighted in red.

It's a definite indicator of ther late-Tomlin era where we have to try the same things over and over again until the completelty fail and then try again.

There's a certain whiff of stubborness and refusal to aceept reality about the Steelers and has been for a while.

Our OL is young and a work in progess, that being said our rb's
in far to many games are hit in the back field before they reach line of scrimmage.

Did you watch Jaylen Warren run the ball on 4th and 1??? Najee got his 1,000 yards for the 4th year in a row running behind one of the worst O-Lines in the NFL; and he will get a new fat $12 million contract from someone.

Huge, Huge mistake not to sign Najee for a 5th year at $7 million!

    WHO DOESN'T WANT NAJEE???
9:28 p.m. TURNOVER ON DOWNS — Pittsburgh actually snaps the ball on 4th down! They hand the ball off to Jaylen Warren and he's blown up behind the first down line.
9:25 p.m. — After a nine-yard gain from Friermuth on second down, Pittsburgh opts to go with a Russell Wilson QB sneak..

This RB draft class is said to be very deep. Guys that normally would go earlier will be available in the later rounds or as UDFA. So I expect the plan is a cheap vet FA, a draft pick, and an UDFA.

He’s not a good play caller and his personnel grouping decisions are terrible.

Totally rigged game, the Steelers coaches and players tried everything they could to lose that game, and they were successful.

If the Jets were smart (which they aren't), they'd avoid this bum.

You don't know what the heck you're talking about on SNR they said Warren had a hip injury, you want old and slow Patterson in the game then?

I'm of the opinion that the coaches used this game with a look towards next season. Trice 1v1 with Chase? If he shined then you are not targeting a CB in the first few rounds. Moore left to block Hendrickson alone? Confirmed that Moore isn't worth paying. Let him walk.
Jefferson as a #2? Nope. WR needed early in the draft. Pickens extension? No way, unless he takes huge hometown discount. There are others as well.
