WHY I NEVER BUY CURRENT PLAYERS JERSEYS = AB, LB

Ive made a decision to never buy current players Jerseys because its just not promising to see a player play with one team more than 5 -7 years anymore. Unless they go to the Superbowl, retire or HOF with the Steeler's i wont waste my hard earned money. The last players Jersey i bought was Holmes and regardless of how his career ended with the Steelers he won Superbowl 43 and was the MVP of that Superbowl.

 

Yeah... I received a present one Christmas of a Steelers Helmet signed by AB and LevBell.

It was probably a couple hundred dollars at one point and now it will probably be worthless, at least to me. Maybe I can take their names off with rubbing alcohol and keep the helmet.

My recent jersey I bought was Harrison before he bought a one way ticket to New England. I can't wear that again for some time.

I think I need another jersey now ... I think I'm gonna need to get a 90's throwback. Lloyd or Greene, or the Bus if they make them. Those will always be classic right?

 

Or "goo be gone" might work better it seems to take off some of the stubbornness stains. Yeah i have a Harrison bumble bee Jersey in my collection one day i will wear it again!!!

 

Someone gave me a football autographed by Plaxico. Yippie.

 

Buying older jerseys makes sense to me because block numbers were better.

 

Really it just gives me a reason to buy more merchandise for my team. I mean can you really ever have too many Steelers related items? My wife would say yes but somehow she has adjusted to our life size Heath doll in our bed. Actually I am really proud of how accepting she was when I introduced the idea. She was the one who suggested we put it between us at night.

 

So what I do is buy from a China website and do like minimum 10 at at time ( not all Steelers) they average about $25 a piece and you can’t hardly tell the difference from the real stitched ones. Then when one of these guys goes all rouge just pitch it. Bell, Bryant and now it looks like AB going in the trash.

 

Agree 100%, unless your buying replica's. I've never bought an authentic jersey of any player who was still active regardless of what their status was or how many years they were on the team. It's funny watching so many knuckleheads wearing Vick jerseys down here around the ATL.

 

But the Steelers Vick jersey is a subculture classic, like Brian St. Pierre, Chucky Okobi, Sequeaz Golson, etc.

 

I've been following the Steelers since the 60's and only bought one jersey, Bens. We had not won a SB since 79 and I just knew he would bring us one so I bought his jersey his first year.

 

I don't buy current players jersey's anymore either, the last jersey I bought was like 10 years ago and it was Polamalu.

 

Better load up. If IP protection is part of the new trade agreement those options should reduce. Though I'm sure sites will continue to pop up.

 

Oooops, I bought a JuJu jersey two years ago. My first purchase since #43 ten years ago.

 

They’ll find a way around it. They always do.

Years ago after the Ben DTF bar accusation my wife was out going to yard sales one sunny afternoon and called and asked if I wanted her to get me a Authentic Roethlisberger #7 Home game jersey. I asked how much and she said the person wanted $5. I told her go ahead and get it.

I still wear it every season.

I took my son to his first Steelers game against the Bengals and he wore his AB jersey. It really was a disappointment to know while we were waiting to enter that AB was deactivated for that game. At the time, we really didn't know the reason but during the game found out. We won which was fun. Stains lost which was nearly expected. My son hasn't put on the AB jersey since which speaks volumes.

 

I'm like Glenn although I don't buy 10 or more at a time. I typically wait til a guy retires to get his jersey however in back to back season I got Watt and Conner because those two are young exciting guys you just have to cheer for.

 

I have AB's bumble bee jersey.

I used to collect all my favorite players jerseys as a kid. I had moss, T.O, mcnabb, hines ward, vick, polamalu, etc.. stopped wearing jerseys around like middle school years I only wear my own jerseys though I will wear my favorite teams other merchandise .

 

I'm in the club of owning Bells and AB' jerseys. Think I will cut both in half and sew them together and change the last name to something that rhymes with witches.
