Yes, theoretically whenever players are in a new situation it can always go good or bad... even if the player is a good player. I too was glad we got rid of Pickett. I don't necessarily agree that both the QB's aren't significantly better than Pickett though. Tons of QB's get cast off one team to be successful on others. Just look at Jared Goff and the contract he just got. Brees, Alex Smith, Cousins, Baker Mayfield, Carson Palmer, and others at varying levels of success. I don't necessarily agree that just because a player wasn't a total hit on their first team that they can't be on the next...

Neither QB was someone "no one wanted". It was reported that 4 teams offered trades for Fields and Wilson visited with the Giants before he visited with us (not sure of any other visits afterwards or scheduled visits he had that cancelled). I get that they are both "cast-offs" from their previous teams (for different reasons), and that could be concerning to a degree... but they are both pretty competent players. We wont know until we see them lace it up in a Steeler uniform whether or not they will work out here, but there is a pretty good shot that one of them will be pretty solid for us at the very least.

Call what you want but it's very hard to remain a contender without your best player for almost the entire season...Just ask Tomlin when Watt is out...1-11 without him overall

Well I bet the under on the Pirates and I like my odds. I'm in AC next week so I'm jumping on the over for the Steelers.

Don't lump all of CA together. Crescent City is not Sacramento. San Diego is not San Francisco..........yet. I don't know which state you're from but, is Pittsburgh the same as Philadelphia? Is Springfield the same as Chicago?

My points is all of those things were earned. Yes, the Steelers had some good fortune at times. They also had some bad luck, especially the injuries that decimated the middle of the defense during the second half of the season.

They chose that playing style when the defense was healthy, urging a safety-first approach on offense. That was one of the many ways they mishandled Pickett. They only finally opened things up later when the defense was missing too many pieces for them to play that style of offense.

You have Philly in the east and Pittsburgh in the west and West Virginia in between.

I agree with what you say, but some of those Qbs you mentioned were good on their original teams....not their fault they weren't resigned.

I'm so confident I'm getting my hidden money out and putting it all on the over. I'm assuming it will be 7.5 at the Hard Rock in AC.

Who on that team was a better player than Woodson? He wasn't their only great player, but he was their best.

Woodson was not the only great player on this defense but he was a all-time generational talent, the best player of the steelers in the last 40 years

Rod Woodson was the best player defense.... Dermotti Dawson was the best player on offense.

That's it, totally! Back in the early 70s, my Grandmother (who was from CO) was convinced that everyone in CA under 30 was a hippy and that all the beaches were "nudie beaches" She was also convinced that, between my brothers and I, we had had sex with every woman in California! I always told my brothers that they must be really tired 'cause I wasn't holding up my end!

Can't be....I was told Woodson was the only great player we had, and yet while He was on the team...the only SB we made ....was when He was hurt most the year. LoL

The steelers defense were not great in 1995,not like 1994....The steelers offense had like their second best season in steelers history at that time in PPG,a big reason why they make the super bowl

They are all in the discussion but Woodson was better in my opinion....Back in 2010 in NFL networkm,in the top 10 best steelers of all-time,Woodson was number 4,behind 3 players of the 1970s
