Why does the Steelers hurry up look so slow?

Just watched th Bills highlights on their last drive. No time outs 25 seconds to complete a throw and catch of 28 yards and a spike with 5 seconds left. How many of you think Pittsburgh could do the same right now?

Ben has been classically conditioned to only snap the ball when the playclock is at 1. Blame the scientists who did it to him.

Because ben can't say set hut!
He says hey watch him, what's he doing, who flung dung? CHIT, why is he looking to blitz? Picks nose and flings booger (explains drops)
Pouncy sees the play clock at 02 and centers it
After the play he tells ben to stop fondling him

Charlie Batch said 2 weeks ago that it looks like Ben has to wait for Haley to call plays in on No Huddle. I guess Haley doesn't trust Ben to call it himself.

Not sure what to believe though. Might be true, might not?

No Huddle did seem quicker under Arians.

I'm thinking this is a Tomlin/Haley/Ben issue. But Tomlin should definitely let Haley and Ben know what needs to happen in a hurry up. I'd have to say that Ben is probably the least of that issue. Ben likes running the no-huddle and that's all about hurrying up. Maybe Tomlin/Haley can't get the play to Ben in time?

Well, to be fair, we have to give our players the requisite amount of time to strut, celebrate and signal first down when the need arises....

In all honesty, however, I have had less issue with 2-minute offense this year than I've had in past years (or maybe it's just that it's masked by other pressing concerns like why we can't stop a QB the rest of the league seems to have no issue with). I haven't seen, for example, the weird timeouts with 2:01 left when we're on OFFENSE....(opening day against the Titans or Falcons, or maybe both.... I think a couple years back), or the spikes inside the 10 on 1st and goal with 45 seconds left (of course, how often have we been inside the 10?), or worst of all.... the movement on the line inside of 10 seconds trying to set up a field goal to win (in Atlanta several years back) causing the runoff and subsequent loss in overtime. I think maybe we've learned from our past sins....or, maybe other sins are a bigger concern....

This drives me insane, and I think I've even seen it this year at the end of a half, can't remember which game. Long play to get deep in the opponent's territory, first down and 45 seconds on the game clock with the team lined up...and Ben clocks the ball. I can't believe they don't have 2 or 3 plays called in these situations. I don't think they are good enough on offense to give away downs like that.

I was thinking it was all Tomlin, but after that throw out the side of the end zone, some have said Tomlin was yelling to run the ball. So who's screwing it up?

I want proof of that. Tomlin actually involved in situational football? :smiley1:
