    Some interesting trivia:

When the Chiefs visit the Steelers later this season, you'll be witnessing a rarity: it will be KC's second trip to Pittsburgh in the past 20 seasons. In the meantime, the Steelers have traveled to KC nine times over the same span.

Likewise, the Denver Broncos rarely come into Pittsburgh to play the Steelers: twice since 1992. The Steelers have gone to Denver five times since '92.

NFC teams don't play the Steelers much at all, but even so, scheduling quirks have kept these teams away even more than usual:

The Cardinals have played in Pittsburgh just ONCE since 1992 and just TWICE since the merger. You read that correctly: the Cardinals have traveled to Pittsburgh TWICE since 1970: in 1985 and in 2003. The Steelers have gone into St. Louis and Phoenix seven times during that span. Very odd.

The Packers made a rare trip into Pittsburgh in 2009. They have played in Pittsburgh just twice since 1986.

Interesting... So, who comes to Pittsburgh the most? (besides the division opponents)

Quick guess I would have to say New England. At least since the scheduling format required division opponents to face off each year. Seems like we host the Pats about every year.

Since 2000, it's the Titans. 6 times. Raiders 5 times. Jets, Chargers, Patriots 4 times.

well, for two of those years, the titans WERE a division opponent.

counting playoff games, my quick math says new england and the jets six times.

    chargers five.

Good point about the Titans. I thought we were just looking at regular season scheduling, so I didn't consider Jets and NE in the playoffs. That definitely tilts the scale.

Since 2002 at least, when they reorganized the AFC teams play the NFC teams each once every 4 years, not counting the Superbowl. That's 2 home games and 2 away games each year. So if the Cardinals have been away twice and home once since this, then one of the other lackluster teams from that division must have come to Pittsburgh twice. Before 2002, the scheduling was a little more happen chance with AFC and NFC teams.

The New York Giants rarely if ever come to Pittsburgh. Their visit in 2008 was the first time in 17 years, and prior to that the last visit was in 1971. So, 3 times in 41 seasons and counting- they will come again next in 2016.

I went to the Vikes game in 09 and that was Brett Favres ONLY appearance at Heinz! That's crazy to think about!

I was at the Packers game in 09 and I didn't realize how little they come to Pittsburgh. Living in Iowa I can tell you it seems the Steelers play every year in KC. I hate Arrowhead and their arrogant fan base, but no where near my hatred for the Pats and Ratbirds.

The Chiefs have an "arrogant fan base?" Why?

Denver will start coming around again when Ryan Clark retires.
