Pouncey’s cap hit for 2020 is $11 million if he’s on the roster, or $6 million in dead money if he’s cut (so, a $5 million cap savings if we part ways).

That raises the question if it is time to move on from Pouncey. The problem is I'm not sure if Finney can be the full-time center, but it may be tough to keep them both.

The Steelers aren't going to lose all those guys if they tag Dupree, Colbert will make some cuts and do some restructures to keep the necessary players.

Obviously they know the extent of the injury and the details of the surgery that we’re not privy too but other than that I don’t know how much more they could possibly know about his progress than we do. Unless they’re in the midst of a UFO level coverup I would think they would release something more if they knew. The report says February 21 he will be assessed by the doctors to see”if” he can start throwing a tennis ball. Sounds to me that no one will know anything until then....including management. JMO.

I really hope Colbert isn’t thinking the same way. It’s probably a pretty safe bet he’s not....

Why would I sit around worrying about them paying Watt and Minkah 2-3 years from now , they will figure it out.

It's also a safe bet Colbert isn't panicking about losing some RFAs because he tags Dupree .

I’m sure he’s not panicking at all. He’s not even under contract himself

Feiler, Hilton and Banner are our RFAs he should be concerned about losing any of them...

Ben would put his foot down. Maybe if no Ben next year but I think he is going to play.

We have a better chance of signing Jadeveon Clowney ,than Pouncey not being the Center if Ben is around....lol

Because you are posting on a message board talking about it........Colbert always figures it out but why should he. And if you think Watt isn't getting paid next year you are nuts, what kind of message is tagging him sending? We aren't talking Dupree here we are talking a special player on and off the field. The kind of player that represents the Steeler organization, tagging him is a slap in the face and if you don't think so I don't know what to tell ya.

BS, that is part of his job to even suggest that is laughable. You don't think Colbert doesn't take everything into consideration, then I guess you haven't been watching......... Colbert hasn't been this good not worrying about things it is human nature...........:shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug::shrug:

I was going to say something similar. Watt and Fitzpatrick are cornerstone pieces. You don’t play around with guys like that. Go ahead tag guys like that and find yourself in a bidding war later that you won’t win.

I'm not going to waste my time like you worrying about how the Steelers are going to pay Watt and Minkah in the future, I'm more concerned about the 2020 season .

Colbert has been running this team for 20 years, I think he knows how to approach an offseason . The players he wants to keep he will give them a offer.
