Who do you think they will use the IR - Designated to Return spot on? Or, will they save it initially?

    Good question.
It sounds like Heath is about to be activated, and I am HOPING Bell`s injury isn`t that serious.
It doesn`t sound like Jones has that bad of an injury either, although they are being kinda vague. I think I read something about a "chest sprain", or sumthin like that? HUH?
Not sure how bad the injuries to the Tight Ends are. I`m thinkin maybe one of them?
Who else would be a good candidate?
I feel like I am forgetting an obvious one, but with the slew of injuries, it`s not popping into my brain right now...

    I don`t know.
Spaeth sounds like a reasonable candidate to me.
Wasn`t he the tight end that had surgery for a leg/foot injury, right after we brought him back to the team?
With all the injuries, I`m havin a hard time keeping track of who hurt what and when...

I just hope whoever the doctor was that did Mendy's surgery didn't do the surgery for Heath or Spaeth.

Who picks the doctor and who pays for the surgery, is it the team or the player?
I'm guessing the team, but never really knew for sure.

    I DON`T KNOW!!!! lol!!!:roflmao:
Honestly, I`m sure the team has specialists, that they would recommend, but there is probably a "grapevine" throughout the league, of doctors that players recommend to other players, based on specialties....
This is one of those things that is probably spelled out in the contracts that the players sign, but again...
I have no clue how it actually works...
    Interesting question...
I have never really given much thought to how the millionaire`s pay for their surgeries, or if they have standard health insurance thru the league, who provides it, or any of that,
But it definitely IS an interesting question, to blue collar workers, anyhow...
At the very least, I know they have more time to re-hab their injuries(often compensated by the employer), than your "average Joe"...
I have a hunch, that this is one of the things argued about, when they settle their "Collective Bargaining Agreements", but again...
    I DON`T KNOW!
And I was taught a long time ago, that to "assume" anything is just to make an ass out of u and me...
So, does anyone else here know how this worx?
Do the players sign up for a certain plan, based on options the league(employer) provides?
Do they negotiate a specific plan with their employer(team), in their contract?
Pretty interesting question, given the amount of medical care a typical NFL player is probably gonna require over the course of their career.
I saw an ugly picture of a former player`s knee this morn, that required 27 surgeries, and now they are pretty sure they are gonna have to amputate it.
Will see if I can dig up that story and post a link here, in a minute...

Ok, I found what I happened to see this morn.
I know It`s a Bungle, but no one should have to go thru this, after they have sacrificed their body, to entertain us...
Warning, the pic of the knee is not what you wanna see, while you are eating breakfast...

    OUCH...
Yeah, Yeah, I`m not a bleeding heart, and I know they all knew what they signed up for to play this game, but that`s just brutal..
You would "assume" (what did I say about that word), that you would be compensated for your time, with health care for issues later in life...
Wow, Maybe I AM a bleeding heart, and just nevr knew it...
Never gave it enuff thought, I guess...

It seems they started this year doing a much better job as far as looking into the character of the players they are looking to draft.

What still concerns me, is just how deep can they really look into the past history of the past physical issues of the potential players, maybe not so much the player himself, but perhaps more so into the Doctor that may have done any actual surgeries on a player.

I still don't understand why we are going to use this tag on a tightend that only good attribute is blocking. I would save it for someone more valuable.

With Heath coming back in a few weeks, DJ, Dave Paulson and Beachum playing a little in the position I think we would be fine. Also we have Palmer who looks healthy enough.

It will be Spaeth. They will need him in the lineup down the stretch.

we have 3 injured players that have to make the roster right off the bat I read. heath, spaeth and bell. spaeth is expected to be the one then put on the designated to return list and we can put another guy on until then. we have a couple of weeks after the 6 weeks, I believe to then make the determination if spaeth would be put back on the active roster at that time.

I agree Spaeth isn't going to be some savior when he returns by any means...

But who else would you put it on steelers5859?

Bell and Heath will be back before week 6. I bet they both are around week 4-ish. Do you really want to put either of them on IR, thus losing them for 2 weeks you wouldn't have to?

I think if you were making this decision RIGHT NOW, it would have to be Spaeth. The problem is, we have another game tonight. Let's get that one under our belts and see where we stand injury wise.

I hope the only way we lose a starter tonight is if the Gatorade bucket falls off the table on them. I hope they are nowhere near the field tonight.

Me too. It could be a more important depth guy though that we would want to bring back.

i saw that pic the other day. im not sure how you can call yourself a doctor and let a guys knee look like that. that was pretty amazing and very sad. it didnt even look like it came from multiple surgeries. it looked like something went wrong and it never got fixed. did the guy go to Mexico to get that work done?
