Many of us, and rightfully so I may add, feel that the Steelers of the '70s, '75, '76 or '78, was the greatest NFL team of all time. But what team that wasn't a Steelers team would you consider the best non-Steelers team?

    The '85 Bears? The '72 Dolphins? The '84 49ers? The '89 49ers? etc?

Hard to argue against either one, but an undefeated season in modern times has only been done 1x. The others were domineering Ds for sure, but the 'phins are still the only yeam with a 0 in the loss column..50 years later.

I agree. Though I picked what I did because...one....I'm all about defense, and two...Dolphins only had 14 regular season games.
I'm not discounting what they did. I'm just saying why I picked the other 2.
They would definitely be My 3rd pick.

I lived in Chicago in 1985 and that was a lot of fun

But Miami went undefeated in 72 and until someone beats that they win

Since we can't say Steelers, how about the 1943 Steagles? They went 5-4-1 and had butt ugly unis. :puking 3:Had MT been coach, still not a losing season.

"The Steagles were the team created by the temporary merger of Pennsylvania's two National Football League (NFL) teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles, during the 1943 season. The teams were forced to merge because both had lost many players to military service during World War II. The league's official record book refers to the team as "Phil-Pitt Combine", but the unofficial "Steagles", despite never being registered by the NFL, has become the enduring moniker.

    "What was the Steagles uniform?

Rooney was able to negotiate two home games to be played in Pittsburgh. The combination team would wear the Eagle's green and white colors. This was only the second time in Steeler history that green and white would be used with black and gold. Helmets were required to be used by all players for the first time in 1943.

Those Vikings teams from the 70s were no slouchers either, they just ran into the Steelers, Raiders and Fins. Made it 4 but lost all 4.

Those teams were stacked, Tarkenton, Eller, Page, Foreman, Krause, etc. Even had old Bud Grant for a coach.

The 76 Raiders and 85 Bears were good...but they were beaten. The 72 Phins on the other hand...

Hard to argue with the ‘85 Bears. They only managed 1 season of true dominance, but what a season it was. Their playoff games were both shutouts before crushing the Pats 46-10 in the Super Bowl.

I’ll give honorable mention to the ‘89 49ers. They were a solid 14-2 in the regular season with a number of close games, but in the playoffs they dominated 41-13, 30-3 and then 55-10 in the Super Bowl.

I might have to say the most complete team I've ever seen was that Patriots team that went undefeated and lost in the SB. That Patriots team was head and shoulders above the pack on a weekly basis. I forget exactly what year it was but it was the year they had Randy Moss. They were beating teams like 45-14 week in and week out. I can't put the Ravens team there because they solely relied on defense whereas that Patriots team was great on both sides of the ball. I wished I've gotten to witness those 85 Bears. I was a toddler then and more concerned with my Tonka truck.

I was too young to appreciate the '72 Dolphins.

So in my lifetime, I'd have to go with the '85 Bears. They were just fun to watch. And that defense was amazing.
