Holton is the new DHB, being kept around just for special teams only .

Wouldn't be at all surprised if they make Switzer the number 1 reciever next year. He must have some serious dirt on Tomlin like a pic of him making out with a dude or something for him to still have a roster spot.. There's literally no reason for him to be in this league

Might as well try something. There's no point cutting him yet. He doesn't make anything. We could still have him for up to 3 more years. He's gonna have to gain some weight though.

we never gave up on Bud Dupree, I highly doubt Tomlin will give up on our current starting SS #1 draft choice who will only be in his third year next season.

Maybe he should. Doesn't look good that he will break out by his fifth year. Too much like Dupree to make a difference in the outcome of a game. Unless we're counting losses.

Sure, but having him doesn’t hurt the roster at WR. What hurts is the coaches using him at WR so extensively over better players. Every team has a few special teams specialists. I think with Holton our coaches have used him too much on offense.

Need a new punter. Berry was awful these last 2-3 games. I think Vance McDonald needs to go as well and the Steelers really need to invest in getting a quality TE. Those would be my two right now as well as maybe cutting some guys on the offensive line. That line has to get better and younger and needs to be addressed sooner rather then later.

We ran better with finney at center for a few games and the pass protection was better. Foster not being able to move his feet was troubling on some unblocked blitzes. Maybe not popular to get rid of foster and Pounce y but we will be better for doing it.

I think Foster is done but you know there is a ZERO percent chance we will cut Pouncey.

Here are the 2020 cap savings associated with cutting certain players:

Barron $5.25 million - no brainer cut IMO. He’s mediocre.
Chickilo $5 million - obviously gone.
Pouncey $5 million - honestly, he played poorly all year, but would cutting him cause a problem with Ben?
Foster $4 million - I like the player he’s been for us, but he was not helpful this year. It’s time.
Vance $5.67 million - I’d try to negotiate something before canceling his option year, but his current cap hit is too high.
Villanueva $5 million - keep. No brainer IMO. He struggled against a few guys, but was solid overall.
    Haden $7 million - keep.
Heyward $9.5 million - worth every penny.
    Berry $1.8 million - cut
Williams <$1 million savings - keep. Easy decision. He played well this season with the more limited role.
McCullers $1.5 million - possibly cut, but there were times where he looked like a solid backup D lineman to me this year.
    Alualu $2.75 million - keep.

My easy cuts (Barron, Chick, Foster, Berry) only save us $16 million. Adding Pouncey and Vance only gets us to $26.7 in savings. Throw in McCullers and it’s $28.2 million.

We’re in a tough spot for 2020 cap-wise, and may need to do a contract restructuring or two in addition to some cuts.

Barron - saves 5.250m while costs us 2.875 in dead money but a savings we need with VW not being an option to cut due to his cap numbers.
McDonald - OTC says we can save 5.672 and only costing us 1.4 of dead money but I have read he has a club option but can't find what it is. I would love to bring Vance back at a lower number, the FA market is not good this year. There are a few guys in the draft I am liking but I want an offensive threat bring in someone else if blocking is a concern.
Chick - Bye effin bye saves 5m
    Foster - saves 4 mil
    Berry - saves 1.8m
Big worthless Dan - saves 1.5m

This is a 23m savings, use the money to replace most at half the price. Gonna need to make a decision on Bud if he won't take a team friendly deal tag him at 17 mil. I have mention Vic Beasley befor and if he fits our cap needs than I am all in on him or someone like him if we don't want to tag Bud. I am not spending big money past this year at OLB since we need to get TJ signed. Also I like AQL and thesteeldeals idea about moving TE to ILB and this will help the loss of Barron there. It also helps us at the S position since I would hope anything would be an upgrade over TE. I am looking for some bargains in FA as depth players at several positions, there are 1 year deals all the time. I am not over paying for Digger, sorry love him but with Tuitt back he is lucky to play 50% of the snaps in this scheme we run. Tuitt and Heyward eat up almost 30 mil in cap space can't pay them all. I really don't see Digger braking the back in FA as this is a position that only pays the top guys and sack guys. the rest get chump change and I am good with that and bringing him back, if not we have Buggs and a the draft as well as a deep FA class here.

Now I know this thread is players but the one key part in all of this if Fitchner, he has to go more than anyone on this list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Foster needs to go. I hate saying that and singling him out but he has looked bad, really bad this year. Getting pushed around and just whiffing when pass blocking, not good. Sign Finney and say goodbye to Foster, thanks for the service.

How did that work out yesterday when Watt had an off day? Alvin was juked out of his shoes on 3 occasions, 3 of the same play.
You want to pay him 18 mill on a franchise tag all the while this offense is crumbling? I don't. He is NOT worth that coin. Let him go and some dumb GM will bring him in to be the main pass rusher :lolol: let me know how he does. The defense will be just fine without Alvin. This team has a ton of other issues. And check this:

The Steelers are projected to have $6.1 million in cap space (fourth-lowest in the NFL) heading into 2020, per Spotrac.com

I think one person that people might not have mentioned that could be considered is Joe Haden...

He had a great year, but given his age and injury history, plus I think his contract jumps up a bit next year IIRC ... he could be let go? If Layne can show us anything it might make the decision easy?

there have been times in the last few seasons when foster appeared to be our best o-lineman... this is NOT one of those yrs..... his dropoff this season has been prolific and needs to go unless he's willing to take a pay cut.... finney is better at the position and much more mobile....
