Taylor has the height/weight/speed pedigree, and is also a good football player.

The Steelers like the bigger RBs, Bell, Snell, Samuels all these guys are at least 5'10 225lbs .

I like ola and Tuzar, but as you stated might be overly optimistic, maybe you have seen something
from these two that I haven't. Depth wise we need an OLB that can play whether it be at 49 or later.

The pick at #49 could be Josh Usche. He is a pure pass rusher but at 6'1 and weighing 245 could play some inside LB as well.

Usche looks more like a 3-4 outside linebacker to me. Are you looking at 2021 and thinking Bud's replacement?

Hoping RB Cam Akers at #49
And P Branden Mann in the 6th

I still predict that the Steelers will wreck everyone's mock by taking someone that has slipped into the 2nd round!

I just hope they don't have a 1st round grade on a 3rd round talent, i.e. Artie Burns, Mason Rudolph, Terrell Edmunds.

I agree so much here Ola and Skip are depth imo, we need someone who has a shot at being a starter imo. This draft class is full of them up and down, Uche, Anae, Robinson, Weaver, Highsmith, Willekes, Coleman and Dana are some names I feel can work their way into starter material. I am hoping one of these names could be out 3rd round comp pick........

Depends if they sign dupree. That would change the need for an OLB. Inside we need either way. Corner is a need either way.

I agree however by draft time we won't know if they are gonna sign him long term so IMO the need is still there. I am not so sure corner is as big of a need with our starters signed until 2021 and layne, sutton and hilton in the wings. Don't get me wrong you always need CB just don't think right now it is as big of a need based on signings and depth.

Hey Mac one thing about the mock we are doing is getting to look at prospects that I wouldn't normally look at. One name that I am getting a small crush on is Jaylon Johnson, you do any work on him? I picked him for the Jets and loved what I read about him, ball hawk and very physical. I did see he will or did have surgery which might make him fall to us in the 2nd.

The Steelers met with johnson. My concern at corner is not only this year but beyond. Hilton and sutton are signed for this season only. That leaves layne only. The starters are fine but haden has gotten dinged up every year here and missed time. He isn't getting younger either. Big drop it layne or sutton would have to start. Sutton isn't really cut out for Hilton's role either if he went down. Getting one this year gives us that layne type year again to the player.

CB isn't a need for 2020, with only 6 picks they shouldn't draft one this year, he wouldn't get playing time this year anyway.

The Steelers should draft this guy in the 3rd, he can play WR and RB, kill two birds with one stone . He ran a 4.39 at the combine.

I agree, we have a very serious depth problem at these positions.
It is nice to think our team can go with out injuries, but we all know better.
Those days are pretty much gone. The warriors are just not there in today's player.

we would need 3 for next year. We usually carry 6 and we now have 5 for this year. They normally take a year to get ready, so yes this would be a need. do we have 6 other needs more important?

Yeah, I am kind of looking at Usche to be the 3rd OLB to rotate in when TJ or Bud need a breather. He can also be an effective blitzer up the middle on occasion. If we draft him and he looks like a future star, it would make the 2021 decision about Bud a little easier.

Player like Usche, with a background of questionable injuries are going to be the ones to drop like rocks in this years draft. I would not be surprised to see him drop to the 3rd because no team will be able to have their medical staff look at him to check him out.

Usche draft card: Stress fracture in foot and torn meniscus in his medical background

Yes they do have 6 more important needs this season , also they might be able to re-sign either Hilton or Sutton for 2021.
    OL
    NT
    WR
    ILB
    OLB
    Safety

How does it change? you can still get hurt if your signed to a 4 year contract?

the need changes. Any spot can get hurt as we have seen. A guy for depth won't be drafted the same as a guy to be a starter.

I don't disagree with the way you are looking at it however a couple things. First Haden played the most snaps and Nelson the 3rd most last year. Next going by the way you are looking at depth and signings OLB has to be top of the list. Both TJ and Bud aren't signed next year and our depth is shaky at best.

I think we have plenty of hole down the road but imo we are better at CB than most other positions no? I am glad they met with Johnson and if he is our pick at 49 I won't complain. It is amazing how we do this mock and other players jump out at you that you wouldn't think about normally, lol.
