That rookie Spencer Anderson I think has some experience at center and guard.

If that is the big boy from Maryland they drafted in the 7th, they said he has experience at all 3 positions on the O-Line.

Ain't thinking that at all. But proves that Moore has some fire and wants to start. We shall see what happens.

Green moving to center May have just saved Dotson a roster spot

“You’re telling me,” Green said. “You just get put in bad situations, and just deal with it. It is what it is, you know?"

Put in bad situations? That implies that it was somebody else's fault he sucked. If a player sucks, it is not the fault of the coaches who gave him a shot.

To be fair, he might be talking about having a lousy offensive line coach during his rookie year, but even that doesn't fully excuse how consistently he got his ass kicked. Hassenaur was a scrub, a very intelligent player who lacks the physical tools to be an NFL center, yet the offense improved tremendously once he took over late in 2021.

Moore would be a pretty good swing tackle.

    I wouldn't think so personally.

Nate Herbig has more positional flexibility and has manned Left Guard duties in the past if I recall. Spencer Anderson could also be an option here as he too has positional versatility hailing from his days at Maryland. Dotson is limited to one position and Isaac Seumalo already has taken that spot.

Another major aspect working against Dotson is the fact that, for a backup, earning $2.734 Million via the Proven Performance Escalator (more on this can be found here as well as here) is quite the financial investment versus another backup in Herbig who, while pricey himself, gives the team more value due to the aforementioned versatility of positions.

It stinks for me as Dotson grew up a Steelers fan and I would imagine he himself would want to finish his career here. However, the NFL is a business and the business is winning. Any player, be they enamored with the team or not be a roadblock towards that objective is a detriment and therefore must be removed.

    For me, I am rooting for Dan Moore. He is by not means a bad athlete, far from it actually;

Again, not someone crazy like Samuel Cosmi, Spencer Brown, Trevor Penning or even Lane Johnson but that figure is still more than enough to do the job. The major issues revolving around Moore have always been around the finer details in addition towards his inconsistencies regarding speed rushers.

He has stated he has greatly improved his core and lower body strength through Training; must haves for any Offensive Lineman. We shall see how well he can pick up on how to play Right Tackle.

FYI.. DK on the Ramon Foster show said that Kevin Dotson told him the Steelers said he lost his starting job because of his penalties. The Steelers said they liked the way Dotson was improving, but all his penalties cost him his job.

    Interesting article by Alan Saunders

    https://steelersnow.com/steelers-cap-situation-after-markus-golden-signing/

Assuming he's correct the Steelers are 4m over the cap. And assuming they like to have at least 10m readily available during camp and not to mention a Highsmith long term deal, Omar has a lot of work to do restructuring to clear at least roughly $14 in space. I can see Chux being a post June 1st cut. I'd rather not, in case Moore completely sucks on the right side. Going to be really interesting in what they end up deciding to do.

Which is weird, because OTC got them at 15m available cap space, and factored in the draft picks n such. Pretty wide range here lol.

That clip from the Ramon Foster show yesterday, I posted above, I believe has DK stating the Steelers are $16 million under the cap.

Does he mean start? Yeah he might not start out of the gate but pretty dumb to think he won’t play this season.

Yea, just awkwardly said. Not to mention Mike sent him the field for a foul start. Tend to think Dotson isn't on the roster by Week 1.
