Haven't seen much out of him this year, not like him to have such a slow start.

He was on ESPN Radio today talking about how embarrassed and humiliated the team was.

I think he is one of them age hit him hard and fast. So far he looks a step behind. I don't know if lebeau has him playing deeper ir what but he isn't getting to the ball carrier like he used to.

He should be on the bench for his bad performances.

Doesn't help if you miss the tackle though.

I am not going to sugar coat it, he has missed some tackles also. I also believe though that he is covering for the cb play and also where Dick L has Troy playing makes for a lot of territory to cover. He would have been team MVP last year if Heath Miller wasn't so good.He needs to improve though if we are going to have a chance to pull out of this.

I believe he is all but done,he simply can't keep up and he has lost his will or desire to lay the wood..

Cortez Allen is a joke as a starting CB as well, and I have always thought that William Gay has no place on a NFL field....Oh the horror I feel after I type this..

Does anyone think the lack of tackles and Ryan Clark laying the wood is related to the defense being tired? They seem to be on the field alot since the offense has stuttered.

I think it's a result of being old. People are hating on Clark a lot, but c'mon. This will be his last season on the team, and he's been an incredible value free agency signing for this team.

No, I think the PF's and fines are to blame.

I think Cordez Allen is just a little rusty. I will see how he plays in the Jets game before I say he's not worthy. Clark might have hit the wall. He played lights out last year and we expected him to play the same this year but you never know when older players hit that "wall" and their play drops off considerably. I will reserve judgement until the next game. This was the first game the defense let us down.

With Troy playing up on the line, Ryan Clark has to cover for both his position and Troy's plus for our crappy corners, if they need help. Im not surprised he has been nonexistent this season.

I've noticed a change in him since he got those concussions last year later in the season. he's been a little tentative. it has carried over to this year.

another thing is he's been guessing and getting out of position too. we can't have both safeties guessing and nobody to cover deep. that's what made he and troy so formidable over the years. boy, i'd sure like to draft Daniel Sorensen from BYU next year. i'm not as sold on golden as they are so far. I was last year but the more he's on the field the more i'm concerned.

trying to play our safeties as corners hasn't helped either.

i'm hoping with cortez back and gay to the nickel that some of this starts to get back to normal.

I still think cortez is rusty. once he gets back to playing well, ike can focus on his man, cortez on shuting his down and gay, clark, and troy can shut down the rest of the secondary. the shark will be more of a help then.

Clark has always been the one player you could point to and say "this guy takes care of business each and every game."

But not lately. I am starting to lean towards the possibility that age is finally creeping up on him. I get what Wardismvp is saying about covering for CB play and also about the way DL has been playing Troy this season (which i like btw) but he's blown his own assignments too often already this season imo and his tackling has been suspect as well so far.

The guy has been so lights out in the past, especially last season that it's hard to see him appearing to struggle so much this season. Maybe we're just being to critical too?

:this!: He does seem very tentative out there. Maybe he's making a more conscious effort to go for the pick knowing how bad we need turnovers and it's making him second guess himself out on the field. He just looks like he's outta wack.

I think Clark has mentally checked out he was on ESPN sportscenter in studio today he knows he's not coming back to the Steelers next season.

I will agree with Mac, that he has been guessing and guessing wrong more this year. THe Bengals game where he is caught looking at AJ Green and loses his zone responsibility on Efiert comes to mind. I also think others have hit upon it as well that he is between a rock and a hard place. In order to make up for the lack of pressure Troy is playing down in the box more than ever, leaving Clark on an island and the horrible cover skills of gay added to Allen's rust and inexperience means he has a lot to look after. He ahsn't had a chance to make an impact so far. look for it soon.

Alot of fans are what have you done for me lately but RC has done more then his fair share of knocking people the F out. The new rules and given his teammates I think his game is changing. Old ..? Not sure yet ? We are only 4 games in

Let's see how this unfolds. I do expect Ryan to elevate his game

Not to mention that our ILB's are not playing great either. They are often out of position and not taking care of things before Clark should even have to.
