According to Tomlin in his press conf...

"Gilbert was less than professional in his preparation this week....he will see where the week takes them if Gilbert has to win his job back and the preparation and the professionalism of Gilbert will play a big part in that discussion."

    --------------------------------------------

So they gave Scott the start over Gilbert. Who knows what exactly went on or happened...with Tomlin and the way he says stuff/etc its hard to tell. I'm not really worried about it...whatever it was I think Gilbert will bounce back from it. First I thought it was due to him being sick (I thought I read that somewhere)....at least the RT position is Scott's best position.

No...he didnt even start the game. He only played on the 2-3 plays where they brought in an extra linemen or used a linemen as a FB (all near the goal line). He was demoted this week.

Hopefully this helps motivate him to work harder. He's done decent so far.

Those things are wrong most of the time...its still had Hines starting for weeks now and he hasnt been. Its always good to look and see who is actually on the field because those arent always right (esp if theres a last minute/etc change).

I thought for sure he cleared a big hole for Mendy on his TD. If it wasn't him, who played RT?

However, Hines did start today. Was hoping he might get all 9 after we got a big lead, but it wasn't to be.

It was Gilbert; you're right. He was in on that play because they moved Jon Scott to tight end on the other side. Scott played the rest of the game at RT.

On his one play in the game (maybe another in a goal line package, I'm not sure), he did make a hell of a block.

He was demoted because he missed a meeting according to the Post-Gazette.

So here's hoping that his head is now on correctly and no additional discipline is necessary!

I like it, especially right before playoff run. That, coupled with the humbling in San Fran, should help keep our guys sharp for the real season.
