Was he hurt or did he not factor into the game plan or what was the deal with him?? We barely saw him on the field after he made some spectacular catches in the preseason. The Steelers have to use him more over a guy like Justin Hunter moving forward. It was frustrating to see him not be involved at all in the offense especially in OT or late in the game.

Agree here. They tried to force too much to AB this game. We have TOO MANY RECEIVERS that go to as a secondary/third/fourth option.

I have confidence the Steelers will make adjustments and get these other players involved. We have a whole hell of a lot more than AB. No need to force it into him.

Great player but throw it to him when he's open not when he's got three dudes on him lol

Now that you mention it, I was a little surprised seeing Hunter getting targeted several times early in the game. I didn't know or even think he would make the final 53.

Anyway, Washington was active but was not targeted according to the NFL gamebook. But since playtime %'s are not posted yet I don't know how much he saw the field.. Maybe he was only on ST's.

Frankly this surprises me too I thought he was #3 WR. You know, I wasn't going to bother rewatching this one but now I will. Could be he forgot his raincoat.

Yeah I was surprised to see Hunter and even Switzer getting the targets over AB and Juju early in the game. I was wondering if Washington was hurt until I saw him on ST when the ball almost hit him as he had his back to it.

I was wondering if Washington was in the doghouse for something. It sure seemed like Hunter and even Switzer passed him by. I'm really not sure why. I know Justin Hunter needs to never be targeted that many times again.

That's because Ben said ...That's Mason's guy.....not mines :smiley1:. I don't think he was in the doghouse based on his work ethic that precedes him. I think Ben maybe gets a stick up his ass about " trusting" rookies until they " earn " it...probably why he forces the ball to AB a lot. We can only become a more potent offense if he spreads the ball around.....

why did hunter look like garbage? the passes were garbage. ben has complimented hunter all preseason just like i told you guys all preseason. he will play. he is our only size speed threat. he is and has been a red zone threat as well this preseason while in camp with ben. ben has to throw some better balls to these guys. ben was off today.

James Washington is definitely the future, but he hasn't built the chemistry needed with Ben to get on the field yet..... once that happens, prepare for the fireworks

Typical Steelers rookie WR. We didn't hear much from JuJu last year until half way through last year... Lions game. Same with Martavis Bryant in 2014... I don't think he dressed until week 8.

But when Ben was a rookie he whined about whisenhunt not letting him open it up more on offense.....

Hunter is a guy that has been fooling coaches his whole career. Big, strong and fast. Looks the part in practice but falls flat on his face under the bright lights. Looks like he has fooled yet another coach.

Switzer did well on special teams. He was on the verge of breaking a return for TD all game. But, Washington and Hunter need to be ahead of Switzer on the WR depth chart.

After what I seen from anyone not named AB or JuJu I almost want them to say screw it and go get Dez.

Plus he had a TD called back by a penalty, no? Maybe I'm misremembering.

Unless Washington's missed time is the culprit or if that oblique issue is still lingering, not 100% certain myself.

All I know is that I do not even believe Washington would have been that much of a factor due to Ben's performance.

Speaking of MB, would the Steelers take him back? Certainly better than Hunter and the suspension thing has not materialized, yet.

Bryant was different as they actually said he needed to work on some things and show them. When he came in, while late on, his play had improved a lot since preseason (seem to recall he never fought for contested balls, and had footwork issues).

Washington seemed to be match ready in preseason and had glowing reports from camp. So it was odd not to see him.
