You say top 4. I say top 5. I would put Josh Allen ahead of Roethlisberger at this point in the 2020 season, but I like the Steelers overall team with Ben, than I do Allen with the Bills.

    Ben's personal choice.
In fairness the Rooneys probably have their next one determined already. Someone close to the organization.

No. With the talent mahomes has any coach would utilize his arm.

I put Ben in the 4-6 range. A bit of Steeler bias, a bit of hope.

You do realize we're talking about a small sample size, three games right?

In 1998 Brett Favre led the league with 63%
In 1999 Kurt Warner led the league with 65%
Last year Drew Brees led with 74% but he was obviously a lot less other years of his career as Chad Pennington led the league in 2008 with 67%.

I recall Terry Bradshaw stating completion percentage was a useless stat. He preferred yards per attempt. His point was something like a QB could complete 3 passes for a total of 8 yards and you're punting. Another one could complete 1 of 3 for 20 yards. Which one is better? Obviously the one that got you a first down. Having said that, Ben is near the bottom in yards per attempt this year. Likely due to missing on some of those longer attempts. But again, it's only three games. The two most important factors are 1: wins and 2: how much the team believes you contribute to those wins. Find me just one on the Steelers roster who doesn't believe in Ben. I bet you can't.

    Wilson 79/103 (76.7%), 925 yards, 14 TDs, 1 int, 139.0 rating, 9 sacks
    Mahomes 82/121 (67.8%), 898 yards, 9 TDs, 0 int, 114.3 rating, 2 sacks

    Rodgers 71/106 (67.0%), 887 yards, 9 TDs, 0 int, 121.1 rating, 2 sacks
    Allen 81/114 (71.1%), 1038 yards, 10 TDs, 1 int, 124.8 rating, 8 sacks

I would put Rodgers with Wilson and Mahomes.
An argument could be made for Allen, although he probably needs more games under his belt.

Garoppolo, Carr, Jackson, Goff, Brees, and Tannehill are having good statistical years, and could be placed above or around Ben right now.
But I agree with others, that Ben hasn't done more because he hasn't needed to so far.
(Which is a wise thing. With a long season after a year off, you want him peaking during the playoffs, not right now.)

Yes, I’m fully aware it’s only 3 games and a small size. To date ben has been average. Increasing the sample size there’s a good chance his completion rate goes down and interceptions go up. Unfortunately yards per completion isn’t a great stat either because it includes yards after the catch. Why should a qb get credit for a wider receiver or running backs athletic ability. As for wins it’s a team sport.

I like what you're saying, but I don't think you can use those numbers to compare more run dominant times to now. The game is different.

You are right about 3 games, though. Way too early to rate Ben. The guy is playing with a new arm. He doesn't have the pain that he played with for 13 years. Muscle memory is one thing, but if you don't have pain that you're used to, I would think you let it rip a little more than you're used to. JuJu and Swtzer both said he's throwing harder to them than in the past.

I'd give him 3 more games before assessing his accuracy. And THEN I'd revisit the rankings.

But holy crap, Mahomes isn't the GOAT yet, but if he stays healthy, he will be. There are no passing records out of his reach. He's going to be the GORN (greatest of right now) for a long time. Sucks to be Russell Wilson and know how good you are and also know that you're going to have be okay with being the second best qb in the league no matter what you do.

His QB rating is higher than any season in his career so far. I'd rather have him play consistently and not throw for 5,000 yards than have him lead the league in interceptions again.

Josh Allen could still be a bust, it's just too early to put him up there.

Ben, has come out this week locally and he said that he needs
to play better and he is the reason for poor numbers by our receiving core.

QB stats are fun and all, but the important stat is 3-0. This team has a hell of lot more confidence with Ben under center and he makes the team better just by being on the field.

What I like so far is the balanced offense that we have seen and being able to score 26+ points per game.

2 years ago, steelers had 403 yds per game and Ben had 313 yds passing per game but still no playoffs. So passing stats are not what matters most. TB and pitt had the most passing yds per game and neither made the playoffs. They couldn't run or score enough points.

If these guys can average 100+ yds rushing and 240+ passing per game and not have to settle for FGs vs TDs, then they will be in good shape with this D. Ben doesn't need to be slinging the ball 50 times per game trying to hit 400 yds.

That is why I quantified the 2020 season. Are you saying Mason Rudolph could end up being better than Josh Allen? Sweet.

I don't think Mason Rudolph will become better that anybody but I just don't believe in classifying a player on such a small body of work.
